Bit disappointed with that figure but now they're on general release we'll hopefully shift a few more.

Well prior to last season we struggled to sell 700 - 800 so I’m pretty happy so far. I don’t think we’ll reach last seasons figure but that was created by a perfect storm of relief, new stand, new owner, new coach, big signings, ambitious announcements, curiosity and a well thought out strategy.

This year some of those special motivations aren’t there and then there’s the SKY factor with games being moved from 3.00pm Sunday to who knows when also some will be happy to watch at home now that all games are televised, If we reach 4,500 I’ll be delighted

If memory serves it was just short of 5,300

There will be some people who found commiting to x number of Sunday afternoons easy, but are more cagey about being able to make it to every game at SL times

Sunday games are excellent. I didn’t realise how much I missed them.

More young fans on Sunday than I’d ever seen at Trinity matches before.

I don’t mind evening games but it’s not family friendly for young fans.

My dad was partly disappointed with being promoted to SL a couple seasons ago, as he usually travels up to away games via the train, etc for London in the championship - But he was only able to do it once or twice while we were in SL due to the game timings.

You're ignoring the fact that Friday's were Wakey best attended games throughout last season.

No particular match-day is going to satisfy everyone.

I don't buy a ST thinking I will, or need to, see every game. I accept that scheduling/TV/holidays may mean I miss games. I'm ok with that.

I do get the idea that younger fans/families may find Sunday afternoon more attractive though.

As an aside, I believe there are now more 'firestick' users than actual SKY subscribers. Showing every game live must have a negative impact on the gates of every club. Now many people know they can watch their team for 'free' anytime they play , buying a season ticket dosnt make sense to the more casual supporter.

So seems Sundays are better attended other than the first game with bulls bringing most fans first home game of season.

I did think that was the case. Appears Sundays/Saturdays would be the way to go for Trinity.

Tell that to the thousands that attend other sports.

Hiding away from TV only makes our game smaller.

Only repeating what the club officials said themselves.

They may have said "evening games" as opposed to Friday night games.

They may of course be including the impact on hospitality, which is also better on early weekend/evening games.

I prefer the atmosphere of playing under lights, but they can play at 9 o'clock on Sunday morning if they like - I'll still be there.

Oh come on, if you can’t do that when you’ve narrowly finished 2nd when can you. I should think most clubs in your position would do similar. With the obvious exception of Salford and Hudds.

its good though.

…and Cas apparently!

Nah, we sold out the East Stand last year after we came 4th, and as our swivel-eyed West Hull cousins will remind me we haven’t won owt yet. Just imagine if we did! 😄

For 2024 we sold 3850 and had 1650 freebie juniors attached to some of these giving a total of 5500 iirc.

By the way, does the attendance figure for a game include all the season tickets sold, or just those season ticket holders who actually turned up?

Don’t get this. The only tickets on sale were renewals. The only people in a hurry for those were East stand ticket holders who’d want their seats from last year. You hardly need to secure a terrace space do you?

We’ve now sold 3000 after the first day on general sale. Will possibly be 4000 by Christmas. Also remember there are no kids go free deals this time, something that clearly inflated last years figures, so 5,500 is unlikely.

If we get anything above 4000 at what are far more realistic prices we will have done astonishingly well for a newly promoted team.

Just to give some context the most we ever sold in SL in the past was roughly 1,200 so 4000+ is nearly four times that.

Finally Wakefield is an area soaked in RL. People were fully aware that last year’s team would walk it. Convincing them this year is a bigger ask and many will choose to pay on the day, or not if things go badly, that’s how it works. HKR were not selling 8000+ season tickets in their first season back in SL, the momentum has to build.

Hope that puts your mind at rest

Sunday is best for families. At Oldham the entertainment starts 3-4 hours pre match and includes community games on the pitch first. The while experience is superb. You couldn’t create this on a Friday night

I used to really enjoy Sunday SL games back in early 00s.

I actually don’t mind Saturday 6pm games as that’s fine for the kids too.

I’m not sure why or whether it has something to do with the TV deal over the years but Sundays seem much rarer.

I will support them whatever day and time it’s played but my kids are less likely to be there on Friday nights.

Everyone has their own circumstances though so any debate like this would just end up with no definitive right answer.

That is very impressive tbf 👏

I've also just been reading that Hull FC have surpassed 6,000, which, all things considered, is excellent at this stage.

I think all clubs have gravitated towards Friday nights, they are far more corporate friendly for our sport in it's demographic, and that cash is simply worthy significantly more than the fewer kids on Friday night vs Sunday afternoons. TV has accelerated that, indeed it probably started it, but for years now we have had non (main) televised games being played Friday night - it's not just down to Sky.

I often find at my club for example that Sunday matches are aimed as "Family days" but also often have pretty hefty discounting/bundles to go with that. Anecdotally I remember that they can tend to be less attractive fixtures, though of course that could be wrong.

I would say atmosphere seems flatter on non-evening games too. Whether the more "family" focus has anything to do with that I don't know. My personal preference has always been for sport played under floodlights!

I think we could do more with Saturday certainly as a sport. It all needs a bit more coordination.
