But how can it be that someone called "Anita Bath" is talking to a "Hallucinating Goose" and doesn't get the fact that maybe, just maybe, everything isn't 100% literal. 5

Hopie Posted May 1 Posted May 1 "Limited" Wembley tickets eh? There are more available than there are sold ones! I guess some of the old habits die hard.

Will Holt Posted May 1 Posted May 1 Just listening to Rhodri Jones responding to the Luke Keary quotes and he says that ‘over 30 thousand’ tickets have been sold for the Wembley test. link here: 5
Exiled Wiganer Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Thanks for the link to Rhodri’s comments. Over 30k this far out is superb. 2
WN83 Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I think we can be really pleased with that. I'm not saying we'd be happy with it but I was there in the 2011 Tri Nations game and there was 42,000 on, all in the lower two tiers and that felt pretty good, so we look well on course to smash that and hopefully get past that 2013 Semi final crowd. If the lower two tiers are full, a crowd of 65-70k would look good and lead to a good atmosphere. 2
Toby Chopra Posted May 2 Posted May 2 It's very positive but they really need to get those highlighted upper tier blocks on sale. There will be people who would prefer a side-on view from higher up over being behind the posts lower down. My concern is we're entering the territory now where where people can't buy the ticket they want at the price they want and walk away even though we know those tickets will go on sale at some point. We can be very hopeful of hitting 70k now- it would be disappointing if we didn't - so lets at least have 70k on sale covering all ticket options. 8
Cumbrian Fanatic Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Over 30k for Wembley and 2 sold outs is tremendous this far out. I'd imagine that a push for Wembley will come after the Challenge cup final and before the play offs begin when the focus can be on promoting one big game 1 100% League 0% Union Just because I don't know doesn't mean I don't understand
hunsletgreenandgold Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I'm not going to call Rhodri an outright liar but......there is no way 30k have been sold. Considering the upper tier that we suspect will be opened, at least on one side, has never been on sale the remaining lower bowl and middle ring holds 50k. It isn't anywhere near half full. 20k at best have been sold. Out of 94 seating sections, only 14 have sold out and 10 of those are in the much smaller middle ring - the rest vary between 2%-94% availability with an average of 68% availability. I'm using a tool that scans for colour other than the grey gradient that = sold seat to get these numbers btw. Too much time I know..... 1

Might it be possible that some sections have been pre-sold to tour operators etc? I know it won't account for 10k of course, but maybe some? @GavWilson

He won't be massively wrong, even if it is less than 30k. But he was talking about the game during ostensibly a football show, why wouldn't he use a bit of hyperbole and try to talk it up a bit? That's surely part of his job. Whether *at this stage* there has been 30k or 28k, or even 25k sold is not the major point, let's have a bit more bravado I say. 1

Sure and that’s why I wouldn’t accuse him of outright lying - but definitely artistic license. 1

I find it hard to believe the the upper tier holds 40k.

Whilst I agree with the point overall - we do have quite a long history of lying about ticket sales. How many times have we been told we are getting x thousand and then it falls short. We'll get a test this weekend - he claimed we'll get 65k, I won't be surprised if it's up to 5k below that. 1 1

That's a fair point and is absolutely true. But I don't think in this instance, being a few out on the sales is that big a deal and were he to mumble something about lower than expected sales, I'd say that was the worse option.
bratman Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Anything above 50k at Wembley is good I reckon, if we've sold 30k already then it sounds very promising.
