From each country with a nominee, I would go with:

England: Herbie Farnworth

Tonga: Addin Fonua-Blake

Australia: Harry Grant

PNG: Nene Macdonald

Samoa: Jarome Luai

Cook Islands: Esan Marsters (their only nominee)

Fiji: Taane Milne (their only nominee)

As for the winner, one of Fonua-Blake, Farnworth or Grant for me

The Aussie media, podcasters etc seem to think it'll be Farnworth and they're fine with that. Same people had a massive issue with Tommy Makinson winning it though.

Fancy the chances!

Makinson didn't play in the NRL though.

Is this only for the rep season or does it include the season as a whole including the club game. If it does include the club season it would be very hard to look beyond Harry Smith who won every comp available to him before going on the be a key figure in Englands win over Samoa.

Neither. Just internationals meaning SOO as a rep game isn't counted.

The IRL Golden Boot is awarded to the best player in sanctioned rugby league international matches each year.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Farnworth for me. AFB or Grant could solidify their cases this weekend.

MacDonald could be a bolter. He's been great for PNG.

RTS, Marsters and Milne shouldn't have been nominated IMO.

Farnworth or Fonua Blake then.

Do games played to NRL rules instead of international rules count?

Either way I see the committee to decide has the usual "balanced" make up of 2 Aussies and 1 non-Aussie, I'm sure that won't affect the result.

I've not seen the same this year but I remember seeing that the IRL had sanctioned Pacific Championship matches as full test matches last year despite them being played under NRL rules.

Seems ridiculous to me especially given the Womens matches are played over 70 minutes.

Got to be Nene MacDonald

I wouldn't argue with that, although they're not going to give it to someone in the second tier.

Looking at how much one player has stood out and influenced games, I think MacDonald has got to be right up there in prime contention.

If AFB goes well this weekend even in a losing team, I think there's a good chance he'll get it.

Two props on the panel in Big Petero and Jammer.

If they can pull off a massive shock this weekend, they might.
