Just about the only way forward is to have NewClub ready and waiting to press the “go” button the day the current club & owners run out of road.

The new club should be up and running now. Be prepared to play out of a shed until access to the ground they want is sorted. Even run in competition.

Not every phoenix club in (ahem) other sports has waited until the formal death of the previous.

I think that is where the fans should be now.

Set up a new organisation and take it to the RFL to challenge that they should have the right to run with the Salford RFL membership next season. And do it sharpish.

They've actually got a nice drafty shed at Salford City Roosters (5 mins from Salford's current ground), where I did my coaching training. Get it going.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

They could be the first Championship club to successfully insist on needing to 'take 10' on penalties instead of kicking for touch given the brook on one side and houses (think Shameless) on the other.

You just never know what the future holds no matter how bleak things look.  I came across this again the other day, a classic example of how things can improve…

Many thanks for that. As a Hull supporter there was a gap in my knowledge about those times including the period of  Hull Sharks and Hull KR financial problems.

I was going back to Hull mostly via business trips from 1966 up to the mid 80's and did not visit again until 2010.

There is a group of people working on that but it's very frustrating and there is only so much they can do until a decision is made regarding the current club?

Indeed. Imagine putting in a load of work to set up a new club that isn’t needed.

A new business will be effectively needed that can subsume the previous one into a new holding company format.

I agree but at least someone is lined up. Hopefully it doesn’t involve Paul King

Not sure about that, Tommy. There's a lot of liabilities in that company.

I suspect an issue for The RFL is that they are probably one of the creditors.  If they expelled SRD it may give them an out on repayments as they would claim restraint of trade.

Pretty sure restraint of trade doesn't apply to impoverished limited companies.

That is if the existing company even survives.

Far more likely that a new company SRD 2026 will buy what few assets the old company has and take over its membership.

Which is the main reason why they need another company set up ready to go.

I do think the the Red Devils are drinking at the last chance saloon, and questions need to be asked how this has been allowed to drag on.

Ending the lease quickly would be good news. It means the council can then agree a lease with a different company operating a rugby league club, as the article mentions.

Joe Mellor gone now. Not sure if there is anybody left. Oh well, this post should put Salford back up the top of the forum listings. Nice to see them top of something?

Young Jack Walker is last man standing I believe.

The 1873 group have written to the Salford mayor asking the council to clarify the situation at the ground, if they are planning to extend the lease of the current owners or not, and also what would be the situation for a new company? Other stuff in there too but I didn't have time to read it all. I suppose nothing can be decided until the outcome of the December 3rd meeting?
