When I first heard about this I was abit "meh" about it but then I watched the last boundary line on youtube and realised it was going to be bit more of a family fun day with music food and drinks before the game "think Silverstone Festival" my attitude quickly changed, I'm sure it was mentioned that they are targeting 10k for the attendance which may seem abit of a reach but when you consider that if each of those 2500 children bring just one family member with them then that is half of that attendance already it seems a very achievable target hopefully the town gets behind this day as it could be a cracker.

Looks like another great way of getting the media to talk about The Roughyeds and the town of Oldham.

Hopefully it generates some TV coverage on the day too.

The Boundary Line said both BBC and ITV were following the story and should be covering it. I reckon if Oldham get a good start and bring Toulouse The Sportsman may cover it.

It's actually sound tactics to do it at the Toulouse game. Who are likely to bring a low following. If we can get 10,000+ to the game it will give our overall attendance figures a massive boost. So a big shout out to the person who came up with it.

It is also at the end of the football season and just prior to the annual renovation of the playing surface.

Originally, it was referred to as a 'famous band' and now being referred to as a 'major pop star'. If it is a high profile act, they would be booked by now, so why not say who it is to generate more interest? Something doesn't quite add up here. An increase in crowds / IMG scoring is definitely the primary benefit, if it comes off. Although, if it does happen, I think it's highly unlikely to be anywhere near the 10k mark.

I have to disagree.. 2500 local kids dancing on the pitch surely there going to bring 2 family members with them thats 7500

Just found out my daughter is part of the 25 selected from her school.. she's absolutely made up and so am I

Anything that generates interest in the club has to be a great thing. I'd also think about getting free tickets to the schools who are involved. The event is massive for the club and town.

From what I understand the kids get a free ticket and any accompanying tickets are 25% off..  

The way I see if one child brings 1 parent with them that's an extra 5k on the gate, hopefully some of them enjoy the day and return to watch the yeds again

You seem to know much more than the rest of us. I've heard that there's quite a chunky fee for participation. As your daughter is doing it, can you confirm whether that's the case or not?  

Also, any idea who the 'pop star' is? Just a few weeks away now and still nothing announced. Assuming the deal will have been signed for some time, it seems like an odd marketing strategy (read lack of) to be keeping this under wraps.  

As I said previously, hope this comes off for everyone involved. If nothing else, it may help with our average attendances.

One of the parents from a local dance group told me the artist had been changed. From what she told me it sounded expensive to be involved.

That’s what I heard but the club charging for kids to take part doesn’t sound right to me. It’s just not the way we normally operate. It’s all very odd if you ask me.

The fee was £25 which includes an outfit, 1 full day choreography training and 4 1 hour zoom practices. The company running the dance side of things also did the London Olympics opening ceremony. I'm not sure how much if any of the money goes to the yeds or if any of it pays the pop star.
