Though it’s a surprising scoreline it’s not been a great pre season for Hudds. They were terrible last season and they could really struggle this season.

Robinson for his lack of experience has a real job to do.

Highlights from the Fev game. Some good tries and a couple of bits of biff (well, handbags anyway). Was an entertaining game by pre-season standards.

Looks like Wilson connects with a punch at 4.50, even if it's not a particularly heavy one. Daft from Huddersfield when they are already in the midst of an injury crisis to be racking up cards in a meaningless friendly.

Fev are looking in good shape for the season though, some really nice shape and ball movement.

Did St Helens 12-40 Salford on 25th January get reported on here? Can't see it, maybe it was lost in the Salford thread.

Not sure of the respective team strengths and I know trial games don't mean that much. But regardless it certainly doesn't shift the view that Wellens is a decent bet for first coach to be sacked this year.

Yeah though we've had one or two pre-season (and in the case of last year, early-season) false dawns in recent years so I don't think any of us are getting carried away, Huddersfield were missing their starting halves (and hooker) and the replacements looked out of their depth, with a couple of our tries coming partly via defensive deficiency in that department.

Also we played very well on a few occasions last year but turned in a number of woeful performances too.

There was still a fair bit to like about yesterday's performance though so am hoping we can be a bit more consistent this year. We certainly have more depth and thus competition for places than we did last year.
