From the shirt launch I think there are still questions that eitehr we thought we would have by now or we are looking forward to:-

Who is the new Chair? I think they said 2 week at teh launch night

When will the new website be launched? They said a couple of days

Are we having any preseason friendlies?

Are we doing DR this year?

Who were the experienced centre/wing and forward we were after? Havent seen anyone in the training videos I didnt recognise

Also I wonder is Jack Wells ever had that sholder op and fancied another try at the pro game?

I was thinking the same -  the website is overdue and I don't like using social media - its an age thing I am told 🙂

I think its inevitable that DR will be used next season - although I have never liked it as it doesn't allow squad players to get a chance and no doubt we will see players being sent out on loan while we will also take players on loan.

No point me going on about the "old days" but I thought having a reserve team was a much better system and there will be few clubs outside super league that can fund a reserve team 😞

Half the time I used to enjoy watching the A team more then the first team, Station Road on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon was a dream venue! Remember players like Dave Maloney running them in for fun in the reserves in the 80's. I think when you speak to the old players they all found it invaluble in their development but I think insurance and stuff is so much now for players it makes it commerically impossible

It is nothing new for promises to be made about better communication from the top. It is very frustrating to be kept in the dark. Could 2025 see things change in the much heralded "one club, one vision" era?

It's a bit worrying that things seemed to have  ground to a halt after the launch night which was a success in my opinion and well attended.

I think we are several players short of a full squad especially given the age of some of the lads in it

We don't have a new chairman announced which was promised within a few days of Stuart Fletcher stepping down

We have no website

We have no friendlies announced

We have no DR announced

I'm sure " lots will have been going on behind the scenes as usual and we need to keep the faith"

On the subject of the A team - I too would go with my friend and his father to watch the matches and I sadly remember Chico Hopkins playing out his contract obligations in the A Team - must have been hard for him 😞

New chairman announced now, although we managed to turn the press release into it being more about Steve Wild then Andy Unwin. Not sure why Andy had to share the spotlight

Kenny I think it’s £20, don’t quote me on it and I’m sure when the new website is launched it’ll have it on it

The recent social media releases were wordy but not really very informative. I hope the new chairman will be effective and successful in his endeavours.

No pre season friendlies. Using the cup comps as pre season,

Hmmm - League campaign is top priority,  but I always thought the cup comps were seen as a source of revenue for clubs outside super league which is why all clubs voted for seeding super league clubs and effectively gave up any hope of ever reaching a challenge cup final - or am just fed up of seeing super league clubs at Wembley.

I would liked to have seen friendlies against teams we will be competing against in league 1 - but it is what it is.

Challenge cup starts this weekend mate. Waterhead .v. Leigh Miners should be a cracker. If I was going to a game it would be Aberavon Fighting Irish .v. Blackbrook. I have friends in both camps and often wear a Fighting Irish shirt.

St.Helens and Swinton Lions continue Dual Registration.

Swinton Lions RLFC is pleased to confirm that the Club’s dual registration partnership with St Helens will continue in the 2025 rugby league season.
The Saints and the Lions have been working together since the 2023 season, meaning that we will go into a third year in this upcoming campaign. Over the past two seasons, this partnership has been strong and has allowed Saints’ young players opportunities to gain valuable match experience with the Lions.
Players such as George Delaney, Will Roberts, Leon Cowen, Jake Burns, and Jonny Vaughan have all represented the Saints whilst appearing on dual registration for Swinton. The St Helens youngsters come from a terrific club with a strong culture, and have always conducted themselves impeccably, both on and off the field, when working with the Lions.
Swinton Lions will be fighting to get back into the Betfred Championship under new Head Coach Paul Wood, with Betfred League One looking like an exciting 11-team competition.
St.Helens Head Coach Paul Wellens commented on the news, saying: “We’re very pleased to continue our partnership with Swinton Lions into the 2025 season. We know just how important match minutes for our young players is at a competitive level, and the feedback we had from our players when they have been with Swinton has only ever been positive.
“Our partnership with Swinton I’m sure will continue to grow, as our players get the chance to compete in League One, and they will represent our club and the Lions well when they feature for Paul Wood’s team who we of course wish all the best for the upcoming year ahead.”
Swinton Lions’ CEO, Steve Wild added: "On behalf of Swinton Lions I'm delighted that we've agreed a continuation of our dual registration agreement with Saints. The arrangement has of course proved to be a valuable player resource for Swinton, but more importantly, it represents an invaluable development opportunity for the players involved.
“We've developed a great relationship with St.Helens, to whom we extend our best wishes for a successful 2025."

Well I accept its part of the game these days but I would prefer not to use DR especially if there is pressure to play DR players ahead of our own squad players - but lets see how DR pans out this season.

Any sign of the website going live anytime soon ? Does anyone know - I don't use X or Facebook but it seems the club is using these social media outlets for news releases as standard practice these days........

Hi Sailaway - yes I do receive the weekly news letter but I was thinking that the website carries other information and is a portal for people that aren't necessarily Swinton supporters to get info about Swinton. I also believe that social media activity is one of the measures used by the IMG points system 🙂

The website is important and, again, it is frustrating for supporters that it is taking so long to get it up and running. Social media is the way of the world now unfortunately.

Still no website? Where can I find a fixture list and will I be able to order match tickets online like I did last season? I stopped getting season tickets last season. Any news on prices for OAP's? Will there be a match programme this season? Any help appreciated.

Unfortunately your guess is as good as ours, I thought the communcation may change when we got a new chairman, it doesnt seem to have made a difference though.

There were fixture lists shown on social media a while ago. One for cup games and one for the league. If you are into that you will probably be able to find them. I don't recall seeing match day admission prices. I think a website is required!

I'm getting to the end of my rope with Rugby League now. The game I fell in love with in the early 70's, and stopped following Manchester United for, died in 1996 - murdered by the RFL. I'm not saying I won't attend games, because I don't often have anything else to do on a Sunday afternoon, but it's not my priority any more. Super greed will kill off everything else. This is not a dig at Swinton RLFC, this is just not my world anymore. I'm grateful I was young when I was young! Good luck guys.

Still no website or even an update, nothing on merchandise since the pop up shop either, I do despair sometimes at the lack of communication
