langpark Posted January 15 Posted January 15 If Toulouse can agree to buy Salford's top six players, then they should get Salford's SL spot. Simple as that. 4 2
Charlie Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I’m a Salford fan and I’d rather us pull out of sl. Your looking at 50/60-0 beatings every week which is dreadful for the sport 6

If your top 6-7 players are willing to sign for Toulouse, then it will ensure they will be fairly competitive this season too. 1

Do the players have a say or we just diverting Salfords warm weather camp to southern France and leaving them all there? 1 4

Vyvyan Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Players can't be just moved lock stock and barrel like that to another country. What a daft idea. 6

JohnM Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I think there is a sentiment in certain quarters to see Bradford Norman version 17 in SL My preference would be to see Salford stay in, with Toulouse part of expansion to 14 clubs. 1

I think it's too late now as much as i would like to see it happen, as I think Salford will be on the heaviest defeats in Super League history this coming season

You're expecting to uproot 6 players to the South of France at short notice? With what money would they be paying these extra wages? They wouldn't have as much Sky money (if any) as it's been advanced to Salford already. Nice fantasy, but it's just that. 3

Crazier things have happened, and as others have said, if the choice is between a 1 year deal with Toulouse or a no deal with anybody, many would choose the former. 1

It wouldn’t be the 1st time a club has been fast tracked to super greed. Can they be ringfenced too sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward

When it comes to uprooting to another country, I think some would rather wait it out or take a lower elsewhere for a year. It's a huge decision and not one you could get players to make in time to decide to include Toulouse in the league. Bradford maybe. Or York. But not one that far away.
dboy Posted January 15 Posted January 15 A Bradford/York/Fev would probably take the invite to step up to SL. It wouldn't be about being competitive on the field, it would be about the IMG gains they can make - crowds, digital, media, turnover...
DEANO Posted January 15 Posted January 15 You mean in the top flight you get bigger attendances bigger turnover and more social media hits. Who’d have thunk it 2 sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward
Dullish Mood Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Yep, Toulouse are the next “best” cab off the rank…..

I agree that an English team would obviously be easier, and I can certainly see some stepping down a level rather than SL with Toulouse too, but for some certainly it would be an attractive option.

If it were to happen (which I can't see as even if Salford were to go into administration, I don't think they'd suddenly put a champ team in Salfords place 3 weeks before the season start) it should be Toulouse as they were the highest graded none SL team. I think many of the champ teams would be happy to take Salfords place for this season though as even if they got thrashed every week, they'd see their IMG scores improve signicantly just from being in SL (as we saw with London)

Pathetic in it 1 sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward

Isnt that what people wanted Toronto to do in covid? Relocate all players to the UK for a year with no regard to visas etc.. And when they said no they were kicked out of the league..
