That last line is pathetic - save that nonsense for match threads.

The vast majority of fans at the opener, both home and away, will have been coming from the same distance within the same vicinity. Just like for Wakey or Cas away for Leeds involves equal or less travel for many Rhinos fans. Your argument about times really doesn't work for this one and is pretty silly deflection.

What a load of prize carp

By your recent standards that genuinely is a compliment!

It was indeed.

I don’t understand why all the NRL clubs don’t take games to either new areas that aren’t represented by having a NRL team like cairns, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide and Christchurch etc or country towns in Queensland and NSW.

Take games to Fiji, png and even New Caledonia and Solomon Islands etc.

I know I wish some media down quiz PVL and co about this as Sydney has to much to offer.

Leeds attendance 15,364 even though they sent an email out yesterday saying over 15,500 tickets had been sold

Season ticket holders not going?

Crowds at Cronulla, St George and even Newcastle were poor.

How can a brilliant mind like PVL let these trials go to waste in Sydney and Newcastle.

The Knights game should of been played at one of the Newcastle League grounds like Cessnock  and Waratah Oval etc

I was reading an article about Wigan’s jolly to Vegas, which included the statement that this would be a record crowd for a SL game. I am normally very happy to argue the case for our crowd numbers being interpreted positively, but wouldn’t it be absurd for the crowd for a warm up match to be the total number of tickets sold??

I don’t know who decides these things - perhaps they can simply count how many were there by, say, half time??

Same with Canberra playing at Queanbeyan.

the NRL should have taken over New Zealand with these trial games playing double headers in provincial towns like Nelson, Napier, rotorua and new Plymouth etc.

wet their appetites for a potential 2nd New Zealand NRL team.

Thats a great idea.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

A mate who attended said 3/4 of that number were Wire fans….anyone else care to correct that or confirm ?

I wasn't there, but I can confidently say there weren't over 4k Wire fans.

We'd sold 1500 on Friday i think, and I expect some on the day, maybe a couple of thousand and <4k for Hudds?

Wasn’t Sheffield v Wigan only 100 or so extra than that?

(Not making any point as such, just feels a bit odd given you’d expect Wigan to have taken a lot more fans than Fax)

I was not there either, but saw footage of all three stands that were open and what you describe sounds spot on.

Bagging Huddersfield seems to be fashionable right now.  And there was a lot of rubbish on twitter, for example, this video, which was clearly taken not long after the gates had opened, but tries to imply that that is the turnout for the day:

and then this one, which shows us just a tiny part of what is a huge stadium....

Really? The stand where the Wire fans was busy but only 50% open the capacity at that end is 4054.

I'm not sure of your point. I suggested we had more than 1.5k which we had sold on Friday, maybe up to 2k. That would align with the above.

This video shows it was slightly more than half open.

I can confirm it wasn't true, the away section holds 2,000 and it was about 80% full, in a crowd of 5,800 that works out about 30%, very good support nonetheless.

Obviously another guess based on the amount of empty seats been used to presume number of fans.

You can see on the video above that more than half of the away section was used. 2k would be half of it used, yet half of the next largest section was also in use. It's how I came to my guess of c2k as obviously it wasn't 100% as you say.
