To be honest I would have kept the seats where they were for last seasons Leeds & play off games. At the south end, as it is like you say packed in craven street. And they had it about right then.

11,020 is great for a first game. If we do well can see it being even more of a struggle to get in at home games. Might even put on more than 2 buses to get back to town.

Talking to others it seems like the changes to Craven Streat for this game don't seem to have landed very well? I didn't pop down there myself, it's was absolutely bl**dy freezing so we stayed nice and warm in the restaurant other than for the match!! 🥶 🥶 🥶

The food stands were pretty much what they were last year. Didn't go further as just to packed. Took 15 mins just to get a cheese burger, which at least warmed my hand getting back to the east stand.

Also the queue outside was ridiculous,  I got there an hour before the game and it was up to preston rd, with no direction or idea which queue people had to be in. The club really need to sort that out, and to have the wrist bands handed out just inside the turnstile made no sense.

But it was a good night (helped by the game being a good close one). And these are teaching problems that the club will hopefully sort out.

I think the Champo crowds are a bit underwhelming all round.

Weren't they 1895 Prelims?

Might have had an effect?

Pretty underwhelming.

Pretty much the same attendance as across the same sides last season, swapping in/out the promoted and relegated sides? Seems par for the course in the Championship.

Only reason why Round 1 was higher last yeart was 8,000 watching Wakey versus Bulls, which was a one-off event really. Other than that, the R1 average at the weekend was quite a bit higher than the R1 average last year.

So overall Round 1 was down by 1,100 on last year (1%) at 76.6k versus 75.5k

Although this year we had Huddersfield playing at home in R1 (one of our two least supported sides), so the lowest attendance in an individual match was 5,800 whereas last season it was 8,500. So adjusting for that it's probably fair to describe it as "flat" I think.

At least all six home clubs reported their figures 😬

Looking forward, I'd expect a big crowd at Trinity v HKR on Thursday.

I'm not sure what the capacity is now, but I'd hope for 7k+.

No noises out of Trinity on ticket sales so far, but with a good win at Leeds, HKR on the up and only an hour away, plus it's half term - fingers crossed for a good number.

I've just looked at the East Stand ticketing - less than 100 tickets left in there.

Also, noted that the refurbished bar in the "Benidorm flats" is now being sold as the "away lounge" for £35 a game.

It was previously a home fans members bar and I'd recommend it to our visiting friends - good view, good atmosphere and cracking facilities.

Leigh v Hudds looks like 9k+ already with North sold out, west with 10 single seats scattered about remaining and East with about 500 Left in the last 2 sections not normally on sale. Leigh have also split the South stand to meet demand

Amazing to see the progress at Leigh. I was always confident that if Rovers could ever get a consistently decent side together we had attendance growth in us given the latent demand still around from the 70's and 80's era of success, but I'll have to be honest I didn't think Leigh could be a consistently 9k or 10k club. The town only has 50k residents, and you have Wigan with 40 years' consistent success right next door.

Think it really goes to show that there is growth available in lots of markets, if clubs front offices do the right things consistently (alongside progress being made on the pitch).

Given the hype around Bradford and Oldham I'd expected them to clear 3,000 and 2,000 respectively, not sure which is the bigger disappointment out of those two.  Again, I thought Fev would have broken 2,000.  Barrow and Sheffield were pretty much as I expected and no idea to expect with Toulouse.

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

Great effort from Leigh . It's looking like a certain 0.5 points increase in your 3-year average attendance score as well now .

Capacity is 9333 according to Wikipedia.

I wonder where that is from? Is it referenced?

Sounds about right THF, given the improvements that have been made.

That's an old capacity. Not sure now but it was just under 8k last season and up to 8 for the final against Toulouse. Given the terracing at the Southend and upgrade to the terracing in the lower North Stand and the corners that figure is probably around 9500 however the ground might need an upgraded safety certificate with the recent work so the capacity could be more.

I always thought 10k was the minimum capacity to meet SL criteria.  Has that gone out the window?

Long gone. Was amended when London got promoted whilst playing at Ealing.

It’s ok Daz we have just had to cut the away section down again, 4 rows top left corner now pal - save your money but out of interest tickets are £30 adults whose charging you £32?

It sure does. Affordable entertainment will always be in demand. Leigh’s delivery is obviously playing to the needs of the local community and it’s not just the football, but the wider experience.

How will the masses of emerging areas feel a need to appreciate SL when the locals show average interest in it?

The target for the big clubs like Wigan, Saints, Leeds, Wire and FC should really be an average of 80% capacity.
