At least all six home clubs reported their figures 😬

Having attended the games at Leeds (Saturday) and Barrow (Sunday), I was pleasantly surprised, at each, when, shortly before the final hooter, the official attendance was announced to the crowd. Used to be a given, pretty much everywhere, of course. Oddly, however, as far as I can see, neither Leeds nor Barrow mention the official attendance figure on their socials.

Hull FC have announced that a couple of extra blocks have been opened for the Wigan game, along with an accompanying ground map showing numerous areas sold out and others close to capacity. I heard a few weeks ago that the club were expecting around 14,000, hopefully the win against Catalans and the feel good factor around at the minute will put a few more on the gate.

It’s ok Daz we have just had to cut the away section down again, 4 rows top left corner now pal - save your money but out of interest tickets are £30 adults whose charging you £32?

With booking fees etc it works out at that.

And don't worry i've got mine, i certainly haven't paid £30 though!.

It sure does. Affordable entertainment will always be in demand. Leigh’s delivery is obviously playing to the needs of the local community and it’s not just the football, but the wider experience.

How will the masses of emerging areas feel a need to appreciate SL when the locals show average interest in it?

The target for the big clubs like Wigan, Saints, Leeds, Wire and FC should really be an average of 80% capacity.

This is a really important point. People buy things, or want to experience things, that they think other people like. Precisely the reason stadia need to be right-sized for their club eh? The attendee and TV viewer experience of 10,000 at our gaff Craven Park is miles better than it would be in a 25,000 all-seater stadium, even if the latter comes with nicer bells and whistles.

That's why I like the way that Matt Ellis is going about his business at Trinity in terms of ground improvements. He doesn't need to spend multiple millions to redevelop the ground now they have that one decent stand, he just needs to get the core basics right everywhere else for now. I'm looking forward to having a roof on the West terrace (Leeds take note!!) 🤣

Let your fellow fans know that they can book via Leigh’s site and pick up on the day or save to  phone and scan in without any booking fees.

Hull KR have so far sold 1200 for the Western terrace and 200 for that new terracing in front of the hospitality boxes, so looks like it's going to be a great atmosphere on the night. Think 8,000 would make it Wakefield's biggest crowd in more than a decade? Suggests some future games like Cas or Leeds could potentially sell out.

I really do think we're seeing some meaningful progress in supporter engagement across the sport

I'm not counting Grand Finals...!! But fair point.

Wakey averaged around 5,000 the last time they were in Super League, so let's be honest this is brilliant progress under Ellis leadership so far (and yes I appreciate he wouldn't have had a club to work with without Carter's more conservative previous organisation)

Amazing to see the progress at Leigh. I was always confident that if Rovers could ever get a consistently decent side together we had attendance growth in us given the latent demand still around from the 70's and 80's era of success, but I'll have to be honest I didn't think Leigh could be a consistently 9k or 10k club. The town only has 50k residents, and you have Wigan with 40 years' consistent success right next door.

Think it really goes to show that there is growth available in lots of markets, if clubs front offices do the right things consistently (alongside progress being made on the pitch).

I like this post.

It shows you that short term growth is very doable in the league and teams shouldn’t be judged on their attendances in the lower leagues.

The growth of Leigh should put teams like Huddersfield on notice (sorry for using them as an example, I’ve no imagination). Grow or let somebody else have a go. Teams like Fax and Oldham have the potential to rise up like Leigh. They should be actively looking for investment and using Leigh as an example of the potential results.

Appreciate that I’m just rehashing your post in parts, I couldn’t agree more and it got me thinking.

Good to see decent sales at Hull FC too for their first home game:

Kids go free and 2 tickets for £10.

Brilliant opportunity to fill it, cracking offer.

Yes I think you're right. I think it's perfectly possible for teams with a heritage and the resulting latent demand to reignite enthusiasm in their communities, and build back up. Halifax is a great example. They won the league title more recently than my team Hull KR (and Warrington... 🤣 ), and trust me having been one of the 1,400 people who watched Rovers nadir at home to Barrow on a postage-stamp sized pitch in an already crumbling Craven Park, I know that it's possible to climb back up from some pretty deep water.

I'm an expansionist in my heart, but with the right investment behind them why shouldn't Fax be in Super League as well as (or instead of) Huddersfield for example, who have never really demonstrated the market demand despite Davy's millions over the years (and periods of really good teams).

Wakey less than 150 tickets left in the East and North Stand HKR now at 1400 of these 1200 in the West and 200 in the South. Getting towards a full house.

Even if it isn't a full house it'll feel like one, and that's the sort of atmosphere that gets people to come back, and makes the friends of people who did go wish they'd gone. It's all about momentum this stuff. I almost wish you to win to keep the Wakfield positivity ball rolling... but then... nah!! 🤣

Definitely. Some people will say that it undervalues the product, but after the season we had last year, with a lot of fans becoming disillusioned, it's important to just get in a big crowd and put on a show. If we keep performing like we did against Catalans they will keep coming back.

Spot on. Reconnect with your audience, and get them back for the (inevitably) better season. It's not about revenue at this time of year.

Does anybody know if Wigan's "home" game with Warrington in Las Vegas will count towards their average attendances for the year ?

Does it matter.

I can see IMG getting brought up.

What is the capacity now at Wakefield? cheers

The sport should definitely take it in the numbers, standard Union practice on the double headers that’s how Saracens average more than their ground capacity
