A real shame for him, Leeds and the league in general. I was looking forward to seeing how he would go. Leeds don't seem to get much luck with injuries in recent times, especially so with the overseas wingers they've signed.

Absolutely gutted for him, from the little I saw of him he would have been fantastic to watch this year.

We seem cursed with wing spots and injuries!

Question, can he be deregistered to open up cap and quota space?

That's a shame.

Ash Handley a better option anyway?

totally different style of player but at least we have him as a recognised winger to move there.

I think the choices are

Deregister him, and sign another winger

Keep Ash at centre and play Riley Lumb

Put Connor at Centre and move Ash back to the Wing (When Miller returns)

A few more options than that, but I expect the Rhinos will look for a replacement.

Simpson is finally back after a nightmare 2 years out injured and along with Ned McCormack and Jack Smith are centre options. Edgell is also a back up option at wing

I think Ned and Alfie are both injured not sure on return dates

I know I said on the Hull KR/Roger Millward threads I wasn't a fan of clubs retiring shirt numbers but I'm starting to think Leeds probably should ditch the #2 shirt, or at least give it out to an inconsequential squad player because I'm pretty sure there is a curse on that right wing spot for them. Absolutely rotten luck.

That's rotten news. Not a fan of Leeds in any way, but was hoping he'd be a great addition to SL. Hope he can recover sooner than the worst case scenario

how many times do these pre season friendlies cost teams serious injury issues all for the sake of a run out?

I'd have thought that pre season games are an integral part of a clubs preparation for the season. Not just a 'run out'. You wouldn't want your team's first competitive fixture to be the first time they've kitted up together. Dreadful news for the player though.

Having had the same injury, fair play for him walking off the pitch! Hopefully bodes well for a speedy and successful recovery.

is this the same injury that ended Brett Morris career?  dont want to be negative but at 32/33 it will prob be the end of the road for him - maybe a blessing in disguise for Leeds it happened pre season and not 3 or 4 games in to the new campaign

There's no reason why it has to be. Gareth Ellis did his achilles in his 30s and came back as good as ever. Harder to recover from as you get older but if he works hard at his rehab and wants to come back there should be no reason why he can't.

Gutted for him, I wasn't convinced that he would set the league alight like some people, but even so it's a big name player that we won't see this year now.

This isn't an Achilles tendon injury, but an anterior cruciate ligament one. Plenty of players come back from both, but they need time and good recovery management.

I wonder if Leeds will manage his treatment, or if he'll head back Down Under and use a medical service there. Given the length of time out, I'd assume the latter makes more sense.

Yeah I know. It was just the first example I could think of where an older player came back from a major injury.

Very bad news for the guy. An injury like this must take a terrible mental toll, best of luck to him.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.
