There’s a certain irony that me and the Mrs are going to Vienna to see the Lottery Winners in March, and then can see them again a fortnight later a mile away from home 😂

Cover bands are ideal for this kind of thing if you cant get the real ones, most people will know the songs so should get a good atmosphere, very forward thinking in setting this kind of calendar up.

I’m dissapointed not to see the Lancashire Hotpots on there, a most under rated band.

Had them for a game last season (as were Lottery Winners, but they’re basically guaranteed an annual Test)

Yeah, this year is the result of a few years of trial and error, and I can see the club learning from its mistakes which is nice. In the past they've gone a bit too hard financially getting 'proper' bands like Scouting for Girls, The Zutons etc whereas the best feedback tended to be on the cheaper cover bands playing hits for casuals.

Getting the full calendar set up at the start of the year is also good progress and shows to me that the operational side of the club is getting more efficient each year of being a regular SL club.

Mixture of covers bands and tribute acts is a great idea.

Sunny day/balmy summer evening + a couple of pints + live music + RL. What's not to like?

Some of the best gigs Ive been to are exactly as you describe, songs everyone knows, great atmosphere. Some of the worst were top quality bands playing new album stuff only that next to no one knew.

Lottery winners were support for  Morrissey at some gigs a couple of years ago- very good band - best name for a tribute act though - "cher and cher alike"

I know Bono and he knows Ono and she knows Enos phone goes thus

They've played at quite a few RL games haven't they?

It will live long in my memory, last year, a mid summer Friday evening game, still around 19/20 degrees, sun setting, cold beer in hand and 7000 Leythers on there feet singing along to Bob Marleys 3 little birds, it was superb.

”Baby don’t worry……about a thing”
