The draw will only take place at halftime in the Saints v Salford match next Saturday. Why the delay?

Both bbc radio Leeds and Manchester are covering Sunday’s Cup games until 6pm. Surely it could have been broadcast simultaneously on both stations at around 5.30, thus maintaining interest rather than delaying virtually a whole week.

I feel I need to have a moan about this because you're ignoring the weapons grade mardarsery of some gonk moaning about Jake Connor being named man of the match in a pre-season friendly.

Tbf with this weekend’s games fresh in the mind and the league season not yet started people might be more likely to buy tickets this week than next, were the draw made today or tomorrow.

I'm now going to waste the remainder of the afternoon recalling more minor ones.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Geez that's a big, big claim considering the history of this forum.

The draw being on actual TV is better than local radio

I personally feel, and I don't want to reopen this wound, that the score update on the screen during live matches was so inconsequential.

Bring on the hate!

I don't think it is a minor moan. Just the sport needlessly getting itself in a muddle again. Next week is the opening round of SL. Concentrate solely on that. Why throw in the CC draw? Imagine if the Saints Salford game is a cracker, cards and talking points galore. But we're not going to discuss any of that at HT as we're going to do the draw of a different comp.

Do the draw either Sunday or Monday evening. Get excited for that, then spend the rest of the week focusing on the opening round SL.

Let's be honest if the draw took place this weekend people would moan it was taking the shine off the valiant amateurs this weekend with people concentrating on the next match ups.

They can still do all the "talking points" at full time.

TBH I hardly ever bother with the half time waffle so a cup draw may keep me tuned in.

Each to their own though.

Don’t think anyone can deny it’s bloomin’ daft to have to wait so long for the draw. Or, more to the point, wait so long to find out when your team might actually be playing. And then we’ll have page after page that the Challenge Cup is dying when in reality nobody has been given any time to actually arrange going to the game.

It is.

Nothing you said makes this a big issue.

I'm busy Sunday and Monday evenings.

I'm sure we will get another page about how the Challenge Cup is dying but, going on experience, that will be based on pretending that there has been some time in past forty years when a non semi final/final game was a bigger draw between two sides who will play each other in Super League.

If the draw is made next weekend, that's still four weeks before the games.

give all the teams a random  number on a dartboard from 1 to 16  and let Luke Littler throw to decide the home team and Michael Smith throw to decide the away team with the over enthusiastic announcer calling out the names of the teams - all hosted of course by Michael  Buffer

There has typically been two weeks between rounds in recent years. The next round this time isn't until 14th-16th March. Drawing it next week still leaves plenty of time. This is just a moan from miserable  people searching for things to complain about.

So we can probably expect an Aaron Bower column in a similar vein to appear shortly.

Tbf I hadn’t realised it was such a big gap this time. In which case I review my moan and say the gaps between rounds are too long to build momentum 😊

(I do think there’s a valid point in getting the games arranged as soon as possible, particularly as there’s absolutely zero second guessing on who could be playing when because of the spread of SL games this season)

I mean I know this is a joke but I'm actually coming round to the idea. The darts players would have to not know which teams were which numbers though.

Totally agree. Doing a CC draw at halftime in a SL game a week after the previous round is bizarre to say the least.

It’s happened a few times in football tbf, especially with the EFL Trophy

For the draw for the PDRL World Cup didn't they do something with tackle bags or something on The Last Leg?
