HP Beans Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hoping we can get off to a good start on Sunday, will not be easy and now compounded by injuries in key positions! Who would want to be a coach,I think Cresta may need to shuffle his pack! 1
Rod77 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 From listening on the radio Ryan Johnstone now out with a head knock, Aaron smith picked up an injury could be him out next week? Hopefully Josh wood back in the fold and bishop to half back for Johnstone 1
Jarc Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Squad is stretched already and it’s only the first league game 20 man squad named including young Seth Woodend and Dan Knott Josh Wood and James Greenwood had to pass late fitness tests so probably not fully fit 1
Bring back GB Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Silva has broken hand which may require surgery. Really bad news. 1
RLDB Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Going to be a battle on Sunday, be happy to get a win and no more injuries. 2
Ulverstonian Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Going to be hard I agree but every game is in this League as we know. The squad named is still strong IMO and more than capable. If Bishop goes to srum half it could be a revelation for us as we have been crying out for something different in the half backs. My only real concern is who is the interchange hooker if Wood needs a break. Let's see come 5pm. COYR 2
steve75 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Whitehaven fans said kIng can play stand off - Bishop could then be back up hooker possibly? 1
mickmike wilson Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Controlled that and some great Tries, Well played all. 2
2Cents Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Comfortable and indeed an expected win against the weakest team in the Championship. Brad Walker laid the foundation with 2 solo tries but his goal-kicking leaves a lot to be desired. 3 not-too-difficult kicks missed from the same spot and his attempt at a drop-goal was comical when the best option was to go for another try. Thought the Ref. was a bit too whistle-happy stopping the flow of the game too many times. Still I'll take 2nd in the league on points difference, which will likely be our highest of the season. 2
ghost of uncle fester Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Great start to the season, some good rugby played If that's there level Hunslet are the worst championship team I've seen for quite some time 1
RLDB Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Decent solid performance, I thought both halves controlled the game well. Barrow got sucked into Hunslets game for a spell in the second half and lost their discipline, once they cleaned it up got straight back on top. 1

They never let their heads drop once and were in our faces for the full 80 minutes. 2
HP Beans Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 Good performance from our lads, scored some great tries and score could have blown out more with conversions and a couple of better decisions. Nice to get two points on the board early in which we all know will be a tough season. I thought Hunslet looked a very young, small side but never gave up and credit to them for plugging away until the end.I guess we showed them some respect with taking the penalty late in the game.
Another Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Thought Ryan King, Alex Bishop and Jarrad Stack did well today, Brad obviously got us going with his two tries and generally had a good game. Drop goal was a strange one though and he showed us why he isn't first choice kicker. Hopefully well keep the loan lads for longer than the two weeks, give us that extra bit of muscle. 2

He knows that, and will be fully aware kicking isn’t one of the best parts of his game But he knocked 5 over today and got himself 2 meat pies Why have you decided to focus on the negatives? 4 1

2Cents Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Game was live and free on Youtube, not sure of the number who watched? 300 last game I think. 1600 attendance today, If all home games are on YT, £1000's in Gate income will be lost and will damage our precarious financial situation. Wonder what Steve has to say?

I was well impressed with Brown today. Not the biggest lad but an amazing workrate and attitude. Jamie didn't get much game time but looked strong to. Bishop has been a huge plus in the last two games. 1
Ulverstonian Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Good performance against a very poor team. Agree with everything previously commented but no one has said how good Bulman was. Looked slimmed down and fitter from last season and ran very hard into contact. All round everyone played well but against poor opposition for this league

Wonder what Steve has to say? I don't agree with streaming the games on YouTube for nothing. The club can't afford to give fans an excuse to stay away. I personally know a couple of lads who watched on YouTube instead of coming I'm sure I'm not alone. By all means record the games and post them later on in the week there is money to be made on youtube however you need 10s of thousands to be watching. if you want to stream create RaidersTV and charge people to watch the games live. Don't lose the match day revenue and not gain from it elsewhere. On a positive note, nice to get off the mark today. Hunslet likely to be the whipping boys but you still need to go out there and do the job. Edited February 16 by Raider91 2
Wandering pete Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Couldn't make the Hunslet game due to a bout of manflu probably caused by enduring the Baltic wastes of Oldham last week.As a season ticket holder was delighted to find the YouTube coverage..is there a way to charge.. maybe £10..but make it free for Season ticket holders? 1
