Thunder Road Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Rumours are swirling that Leigh are after Jake Clifford from the NQC. Both parties are interested but a couple of hoops need to be jumped through regarding licensing.

Ultimately unless Leeds offer him a contract at least as valuable after tax (which there must be some cap dispensations etc available to increase it further), then if I were him I would go. It's a short career, as Stevie Ward found it could be very short. "Young Jack Walker" was the next big thing at one point and now look. Financially he needs to consider his situation. He's also young enough that he could take this opportunity and come back and still be only 25. The opportunity to have an NRL stint under your belt, almost certainly more international caps too including a 2026 World Cup place must be tempting. I think the club (Leeds) needs a bit of a statement and vision. BA has turned things around but it does feel like he is going to be here only on a short term basis. That works for some players but for someone like Gannon he needs to be sold a more longer term vision for the club and how success will come to him here. Its a shame really that his contract is up when it is, with a further year the situation would probably be a bit easier for the club to manage. As you say Tommy a player's career is short enough and injuries could curtail it even further, no player should if offered the opportunity to play in the best comp on the planet turn it down, not only for the obvious financial reasons but to in all likelihood probably improve one's playing ability. 1

Probably held us together that year. I'd have him back but with our quota situation and Sezer looking good it's a non starter.

Two ex Ossett Academy lads. With James Batchelor at KR and Sam Hewitt at Giants that’s a fair few decent SL second rowers from one school. Think it was one of the Kelly’s who was head of Rugby at Ossett at the time all four came through 1

Would mean Pitts moving position to second row id imagine I’m thinking Pitts might be more of a squad player (and we’ve needed them this year!). He’ll be 36 by season start and I think has one eye on coaching. Tevaga seems a similar hard working loose…but obviously NRL quality.

Hope the second paragraph is true. Maxime Rostang HB/FB Very skillfull young half. Plays of instinct and has great vision for the game, similar type player to Mikey Lewis. One of the best youngsters in France and one of the best U19 halfbacks in the world IMO. Going to have a special career if coached and played right. Already tracked by Championship clubs last season, according to our sources, he will make the leap this time. He is likely to join York, currently in the top three, behind Toulouse and Bradford. 3

Going to bring a great long kicking gane and some needed structure to the Catalans attack. Perfect fit for Catalans IMO, should go well. 1
