Certainly an exciting youthful spine. Going to bring a great long kicking gane and some needed structure to the Catalans attack. Perfect fit for Catalans IMO, should go well. Wholly agree with you. If their current rate of development continues, you can add Darrelatour and Martin in the backs too, and not forgetting Romano and Laguerre, though I think they are a bit older. A challenge that Joel Tomkins will face in the short term is whether to omit experienced imports in favour of blossoming local talent. For instance, I presume that Reimis Smith is currently injured, but when he regains fitness, what then...?

Sims, Whitehead, Keary just don’t cut it. Not sure if it’s an attitude problem or just they’re not good enough anymore. I could see their side looking like this next year: 1-Aispuro-Bichet 2-Makinson/Martin 3-Smith 4-Laguerre*/Romano* 5-Cotric 6-Rougé 7-Sexton 8-Bousquet* 9-Garcia 10-? 11-Seguier* 12-? 13-Partington 14-Da Costa* 15-Satae* 16-Dezaria 17-Sironen* 18-Navarette 19-Fages? 20-Makinson/Martin 21-Laguerre*/Romano* 22-Maria 23-Darrelatour 24-Descalzi 25-Marc 26-Yaha? 27-Buche Certainly some signings and extensions to be made, especially in the foward pack. Some exciting prospects though, Lenny Marc and Giovanni Descalzi should break through next year, and Martin and Aispuro-Bichet will continue improving. Backline looks good, just need a few more leaders in that foward pack I’d say. Some mobile fowards who can get quick play the balls. Sexton, Aispuro-Bichet and Rougé could become a very exciting lethal spine. 2 1

Good signing for York. Wouldn't have minded if we'd given Josh another year but I guess it's a sign of our progression that we're releasing the likes of him and similarly Hoody and Atoni at the end of this year. MZH Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Only rumour at the minute, but it sounds a lot like Sam Lisone is on his way to Hull FC.

Chrispmartha Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Sam has been really good this season but that is only because we have s very good pack who can play long minutes around him, he’s emehat id call a luxury prop because he will only give you 30 minutes maximum per game. I’m sad to lose him but he’s been more tocks than diamonds at his time at Leeds

A couple of blockbusting stints off the bench is exactly what we are looking for. Hopefully we can persuade Sam Eseh to sign for next year (or perhaps more accurately persuade Wigan to let us sign him for next year). That would give us Ese'ese, Lisone, Knight, Hill and Eseh as our main options in the middle. All bases are covered there. You've got a couple of real blockbusting, tackle breaking props in Herman and Lisone, and 3 good all rounders to back them up.

As long as you can keep him fit and focussed he will be fine, if you get the 2023/24 version you may not be. I wanted to keep him but he's not worth paying overs for and apparently Hull offered him way more money so good luck to the lad I don't blame him for going. He probably shouldn't have come out in the press saying he doesn't want to play for any other SL club though.

He's an exciting player, as you say can be a bit of a luxury but I think if he leaves then another similar style of player, hopefully with a better engine, will have to be brought in.

I'm sure please will have been scouting plan B and Plan C. I know that the club are heavily invested in the youth we have coming through which by all accounts is the best crop since the golden generation.

He changed the game on the weekend, took a lot of energy out of a smaller pack and got Leeds moving forward with ease at times. 1

I don't think we have ever produced a sort of barnstorming prop like that ourselves though. Oledski could be dependent on conditioning but I suspect it will be another NRL player being brought in.

He does that regularly. In the post match Connor said how they were looking for him to come on because the team needed that lift. Impact substitutions are worth having whilst still impactful. 1

Impact substitutions are worth having whilst still impactful. Yeah he’s been very good for Leeds and will certainly be a loss, no matter how you dress it up. There’s no one in the academy who can replace him. Butterfield is most promising prop but he’s a million miles away from the level Lisone is at. Cassell will come in for Gannon next year but we will need to look overseas for a replacement for Lisone and with the quotas going to 10, everyone is going to be scrapping for talent. Perhaps someone like Bunty Afoa might be an option, given he’s fallen out of favour a bit with the Warriors 1

He did and has been doing that this year, but Brad Arthur has really managed him well and basically told him to get fit, the Hull coach will need to have similar attitude to him otherwise he will fall back to his previous standard, which wasn't very good. 1
