A couple of selection headaches for Cartwright. Bourouh is missing after falling his HIA. I would have gone with Moy on the bench to spell Balmforth for 20 minutes and to provide options in the back line. However, now that Hardaker is out I would want Rapana at centre, which means Moy at full back. So do you then ask Balmforth to do 80 minutes, or do you look at a debut for Will Hutchinson? It's a tough game for an 18 year old to make his debut.

Whatever the side I expect another committed performance, but probably not a result.

I think FC will win, as 1) they look far better this year, 2) we usually lose this game her (including last year when the gap between the sides should have been huge) and 3) we have more than one eye on our Vegas stag do next week: I had been eyeing up 120 to 1 for us to lose all the first 4 games, given that they were hard local derby, pre stag do, stag do and then hangover + jet lag. I am pretty sure we will come good, and they have earnt the right to have a month off and a lads’ trip. 

That isn’t to take anything away from what looks like a well coached and fit FC. Cartwright could be their Maguire. Their long suffering fans deserve some joy.

I think you do your guys a disservice with the stag do chat. It wouldn't surprise me if they are a bit distracted by it all, they are only human afterall. But they are a professional bunch. I aren't expecting it to be too much of a factor.

Wigan have lost this fixture two years in a row so I'm not expecting this to be a guaranteed bounce back after dropping points last week. Having said that, Wigan should be more motivated for this game than in previous seasons. Last year we'd just come off the back of consecutive derby victories and couldn't match those high standards against a team that were a bit of a shambles.

I was impressed by Hull against Catalans so I'm looking forward to a close game. A try wouldn't go amiss.
