How much mention on Sky was there about a team scoring a try against Wigan for the first time in 5 and a half SL games?

Dave Woods was on it like a flash, and he was commentating on the Wire game.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Correct, but Hull are still down to 12 men.

Obviously I was being sarcastic in my reply re 'clothes lining' in your piece about how that move has been used on numerous occasions, yes it is a thing of beauty when executed as it was but it should be very preventable by the defending team, the ball must have been out of the scrum for fully 2/3 seconds before Field recieves it with Smith running around the scrum to recieve from the backrow forward then taking a few steps to his right before turning the ball back inside to Field, effectivly the defensive team have 3 defenders in very close proximity, the blind side prop and second row and loose forward who should be filling the gap that Smith and Field so effectively utilised, especially if it has been exhibited a few times.

If that is Wigan playing at a very low intensity then we may as well just call it a year and give them all the trophies now.

There is an old saying in Rugby League in that you can only play as well as the opposition allows you to, now I know that you have said we are discussing this week's Wigan game and not last weeks, but Hull last night in my opinion gave Wigan much more latitude and space than Leigh did last week, and in doing so that is an open invitation to a team like Wigan to exploit to the full.

What happened to neutral commentators?

Tell you what Browny we are in for a good time when Wigan play Saints and Woods and Amor are on commentary together, arrgh the thought.

It's almost like every game is different. A terrible Hull team beat Wigan last season too. Leigh are a better side than Hull and played very well last week, but Wigan were miles better tonight than last week. If Wigan attacked like that last week Leigh wouldn't have close to them either. It would have likely been closer than this granted, but still.

Hull play Wigan in the cup in a few weeks. Maybe that game will be completely different, because its sport and no two games are the same.

Indeed. If every week was predicable sport would be boring. Last week was a fluke, in more ways than one, which is why it hardly ever happens. Wigan played much more like Wigan last night with much more speed and fluidity. Last week wasn't bad, pretty solid for a Wigan team that usually start off slow, but it was a typical first run out with some things not quite there.

I've only watched the highlights of the tries. Our numbering up in defence was poor and Wigan exploited it excellently. We can get away with it against poorer teams by cutting out the attack, but with quick balls and smart pass selection you can find the gap, and once a team like Wigan does that they've got the strike players all over the field to score in support. To beat a team like Wigan with the players we have, you must at least number up in defence because you can't rely on scrambling defence (like we did against Catalans) when a club like Wigan make that break.

A pasting, certainly. Something to go back to training and look at improving. Let's see what Cartwright can do.

I think the key thing for Hull FC is yes it's a pasting but how they react next week. That will be the real indicator as to how much has changed compared to last year.

Reading through this thread, Wigan were either red hot on the back of their shock defeat last week and Hull just couldn't keep up

I would say this was the case.

As has been said, Hull fell for one or two training ground moves that they perhaps should have seen coming but, that aside, Wigan were terrific. It's difficult to stop them when they're in that mood and if they continue like it, we won't be the only team to suffer a shellacking against them.

I am hoping against hope that the FC fans who were encouraged to give the game a go for the first time in a while will come back again, and that they will see the FC of round 1, rather than last night.

Well that was a masterclass.

Don't think I've seen a more impressive performance by a visiting team since we moved to the stadium. There was even a ripple of applause from the Hull fans in the East Stand for one of their tries.

Spot on, the Wigan side was superb.

That's probably the biggest disappointment to me. I know how fickle fans are and I know for a fact that a lot of those non regulars who went last night will have gone away thinking same old same old.

We have to be realistic about where we are. We were excellent against Catalans but that performance was built on 100% effort and commitment. That's very hard to sustain that week in week out even if you want to. I felt we tried very hard last night but maybe just couldn't make those extra little efforts that were needed to stop the onslaught. Wigan were excellent. The people saying they were in second gear are either trolling or didn't watch it because imo they were pretty flawless in every aspect of the game. We won't be the only team to be on the end of a score like that.

I thought Briscoe's tackle on Miski with the game long gone was a great sign that the attitude is different this year. We simply weren't doing things like that last year.

Nothing shows how to celebrate a good crowd better than a sold out sign each week.

But we'll done to fc putting a two tickets for a tenner deal on its gonna be hard to get the stay away fans back.

The point I was making was FC promptly put out a media release stating the crowd number and showing appreciation for their support.

KC don't even mention their crowd and haven't for some time. The only good thing is if it's a sellout match, we know the capacity of the stadium. KR should do much better in that regard and learn from FC.

How on earth have the BBC chosen Wigan-Hull over Saints-Leeds to show on Challenge Cup weekend ?

Love to know which brain of Britain picked that for the nation's viewing public ?

Don't tell me you missed our open topped bus parade and civic reception.
