Eddie Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Shame there’s only four Greek players in the Greek side but even so it’s progress. I haven’t heard much about the domestic game there for a little while but as far as I’ aware it’s still thriving which is great. 1 1

Copa Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Just posted on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1GSDUYFRLN/?mibextid=wwXIfr “The USA v Greece match has been called off due to player safety concerns caused by lighting issues at Silverbowl Park, Las Vegas. The issue was caused by thieves stealing the copper from the light. Electricians from Clarke County were unable to rectify the issue in time.” 1
Pulga Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Rugby League really is a parody of itself. Embarrassing. 2 1
stookie Posted February 27 Posted February 27 I mean, to be fair, what could they do? Hire 24 hour security to guard a park field? It's just bad luck, it happens. 1

It's just bad luck, it happens. I’m not sure I’ve ever come across an equivalent where an alternative venue simply couldn’t be found. Whatever, this is just gutting news. EDIT: Just seen that the main game is going ahead. I think I misunderstood what had actually been called off. Edited February 27 by gingerjon Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Two men's games were scheduled for Wednesday and Friday. The latter is a double-header with the women. Kick-off times for Friday have now been brought forward to the afternoon. 3

It's not but name another sport where this type of thing happens with any regularity. I've been a part of organising a test match where we had to change venues 24 hours out from the game. This is beyond a joke.

A stadium the NRL is renting out for a few days suffered a burglary and somehow RL is at fault. RL fans, eh? 1

unapologetic pedant Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Half time USA 34 Greece 0. Greeks being steamrolled. Good individual try by ex-Wigan player Taylor White. Ref not fully clued-up. Let the American half reach into the scrum and palm the ball out when it got stuck. Painfully slow ruck.
unapologetic pedant Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Full time USA 46 Greece 0. Much better showing from the Greeks second half. Couple of times, threatened to score. No cigar. First American try after the resumption was an intercept. Second, dummy-half took advantage of no markers. 40-minute halves, so this must have been International Rules. 1
dealwithit Posted March 1 Posted March 1 USA 10-46 Greece. USA were leading 10-6, but it all fell apart second half
langpark Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Looks like nothing is safe in Vegas. Not the copper wire, nor the steedens. Look at what happens here when there was a kick-for-touch (at 3:43:42 in the video).
2blackrooks Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Did they even try n get any of the visiting SL NRL supporters to the game, beer tent and all that, only looks as if there was a handful of supporters and a scabby dog at it. Takes me back to Tattersfield early 80s
