jroyales Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 Well the old enemy are back here this weekend and we can expect yet another nail biter. The big question is what team will SL put out against them. They are no mugs and deserve respect so wholesale changes will only help them. Also, after last weekend's game against Batley there is a need to show the real Oldham. It also needs to be remembered a trip to Wembley is at stake. Oldham by 30. (I meant to say 3 but 30 just appeared.) 1 1

sheddingswasus Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 Continuing the Heritage Trust series of match previews, by looking back at the history of the clashes. There is some fascinating footage from clashes in 1957, 1959, 1972 & 2003. There is plenty of other from 2000โs alsoย https://www.facebook.com/share/v/15QLw2xn7Z/?mibextid=wwXIfr 4

sheddingswasus Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 Thank you. Once again great research by Michael Turner. We plan to produce one for every match this season. It is a great way to see some previously unseen footage of matches.ย ย ย 4 1
Anita Bath Posted February 27, 2025 Posted February 27, 2025 Great stuffโฆand I am not referring to some of the defensive plays! 2
jroyales Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 On Oldham Community Radio this morning Mike Ford said that Josh Drinkwater won't be playing this weekend and JT will be out for a couple of months due to a hamstring injury. 1
m brooksy Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Looking at the squad Craven will come straight in for Drinky at half back. Still think they'll be a few changes in the forwards as I'd like to see Forster and Baxter get a run out and maybe rest Dudson and Milner for a tough away game next week against Barrow. Maybe O'Keefe at centre but it doesn't look like they'll be too many changes in the backs. Rochdale have sort of gone under the radar in pre season but no longer after their thrashing of Keighley. Think they've put together one of the best squads they've had for a long time with a very good coach in Thornton and I've got them as favourites to win the league.ย Think this is a good opportunity to right some wrongs in last weeks performance. Oldham by 12. 4
jroyales Posted February 28, 2025 Author Posted February 28, 2025 A lot depends on the officials and Oldham working hard not to upset him. I for one won't be shouting at the ref!!!

Not great news on JT. A couple of months seems completely at odds with what the medical bloke was saying on his video. Also seems at odds with the 21 man squad announcement commentsย ย
chiefgeneral Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Just seen on Hornets FB page that Else is not in squad. That could be huge

That could be huge I still think this will be a tough one. Hornets are flying and will never be less than fired up. On paper we should be too strong, and I think we will, but as always weโll have to be on our game.

m brooksy Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 Slow first 30 or so where we let Rochdale dictate the tempo i.e unbelievably slow. Once we started to go forward with Ted and Farnworth they couldn't contain us. Craven was superb in the halves and looked back to his best. Thornley was excellent as always. Ted and Farnworth great off the bench. Thought Baxter and Forster looked good for their first proper games. Only downside was a few pieces of really poor foul play from Rochdale and then the crowd again. Where have all the fans gone? 1

Totally agree, the attendance is very poor, I thought it would be increasing in the championship but seems to be decreasing. Hoping it's just the weather and run of home games and the numbers increase soon. The lads are so worthy of a big crowd.ย

I bet thereโs a fair few there that will be at BP when the football season finishes.ย
