With some clubs now producing amazing content for the fans I think it’s time to have a thread that points people toward the stuff the clubs are offering.

I know I’d like to see what other clubs are offering too

Ill start with my club, Wakefield Trinity who are knocking out some absolutely fantastic stuff that every Rugby League fan can enjoy, Trinity fan or not.

There is some very good content out there at the moment. There are a couple of things I'd like to see clubs do

- please don't use AI when creating stuff.

- please think about using Bluesky and other platforms

Both points here are good. BlueSky needs more RL content as the platform grows.

Good thread idea.

I agree too that there has been a noticeable improvement of the social media output of most clubs and SL.

Hopefully, if people post their clubs media output, it’ll drive up views and encourage more

This is the kind of thing that looks really good and is pretty straightforward to put together

Today we reviewed the impact that the Workington Town Rugby League Football Club Community Trust has achieved.
✅ The Decommisioning Alliance listened to our vision and funded our Community Manager role, thank you 🙏
✅ Later in 2024 after discussing our aims with No Name Travel Ltd their management agreed to become our Community Trust sponsor for 2 years allowing us to expand the Community Trust and commit to more staffing support to the Workington Town Community Trust, we are so thankful for for their belief in us.
✅ In October Maryport Bodyworks Ltd agreed to allow us the use of their sponsored vehicle to get around the schools and other places in the community and No Name Travel also provided us with another vehicle later in the year in another show of support.
✅ Further grant funding was secured from many other organisations to allow us to provide FREE half term camps and activities, HAF, Dobies Charitable Trust, The Hadfield Trust amongst the key supporters of our work.
✅ We have grown from 0 (zero) paid employees to having a team of 6 people who provide support for the work we are doing and are passionate and are sustainably paid for the work they do, as well as sometimes they just 'Volunteer' because their heart and soul goes in to the work our club has been fundamentally trying to drive in the area, and with the support from No Name Travel Ltd, The Decommisioning Alliance and Maryport Bodyworks we have achieved the following.
🔵 13 HAF days where over 100 different kids from underprivileged areas have enjoyed sport, fun and even Christmas pantomimes.
🔵 We have provided 28 hours FREE professionally enhanced P.E lessons at 14 schools in the area of which 4 have asked to deliver their P.E lessons for extended periods of time throughout 2025!
🔵 2 more new schools are receiving taster sessions next week!
🔵 So far in 2025 we have delivered 108 hours of P.E in schools and it's only February!
🔵 Our hourly rate for this additional excellent delivery is significantly subsidised by the funding we receive, the private sector funding is helping the public sector in partnership and we are delivering great sessions to hundred plus kids everyweek introducing them to sports, not just rugby!
🔵 We have secured 40 weeks worth of funding where we spend 4 hours a week with adults with additional needs.
🔵 We have secured funding to shortly deliver a 3 year programme for a 'Youth Club' format where we will endeavour to improve children's life's in a sporting environment! - Watch this space!
✅Before we played Leigh Leopards we managed to get out due to having readily available resource to deliver over 2000 SEASON tickets passes with our fixtures on the back to nursery and primary kids after superb and speedy work by our printing partner Firpress and each has a QR code for FREE entry to our games for the children.
✅ We are in the process of getting another 2000 produced so we can get them in the hands of local children.
✅ We are 1 of the few clubs where kids can watch for FREE!
🔵 Before we played Leigh Leopards in front of 3000+ people 80 players from numerous local community clubs played games on the Fibrus Community Stadium providing an experience never to be forgotten and an experience that inspires them for the future!
In the last 3 years we are now a home from home to:
🏉Workington Town Ladies RLFC - from 6 players to 3 trophies in 1 year on the back of the support of the club, the community and the businesses in the area and our main sponsors Fibrus.
⚽ Workington Town Women FC and Workington Town Girls FC have rebranded and respect and help us move forward and we respect them for everything they are trying to achieve, we work together and has everything gone smoothly - NO but it's certainly through no lack of effort.
⚽ WE DREAM, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE together!
🔵 Workington Town Netball who play on the courts of Cumbria in Town colours and proud to do so!, sponsored kits and hoodies from West Cumberland Engineering Ltd. 🙏🙏
They are brilliant and their team provided crucial volunteer support and helped against Leigh 👏
✅Our community staff have themselves become a team, created inspiration and friendships that weren't there before and they are working so hard to make a difference, we selected these people because they are fantastic smiling faces and representatives of our club!
🤔💭We asked them today to share their thoughts on what they feel about being part of Workington Town RLFC and it's Community Trust.
🔵Community Trust Manager - Debbie Smith.
'It is my privilege to work with such a dedicated team of people in our Trust and at Workington Town RLFC for pushing hard to create a platform that can deliver locally,
Without the support of TDA -Alison Young. Vicky Brown at - No Name Travel and John at Maryport Bodyworks we would not have achieved what we have to date'
We could not achieve this without our communities support, and we aim to increase the number of sporting opportunities for all.
We are a unique team that value each other and those that we work with.
Our recent work with The Helena Thompson Museum shows how we value the past, the present and the future.
We are only just starting, there is so much potential and areas to explore and enhance! '
🔵Zarrin Galea
Workington Town RLFC
- Session delivery - key worker.
'I think the most rewarding thing about the community work is the people we bring along with us, throughout the school visits leading up to the Whitehaven game and in particular the Leigh leopards game, after what was a disappointing performance in the Ike game, to see the kids I've taught at local schools flood the field and come up to me with the biggest smiles although I might not be feeling the best after a loss, however this reminds me why I play, the support we have and who I do it for, the club and community of Workington Town RLFC! '
🔵Steph Ratcliffe
Workington Town Ladies RLFC
- Session delivery - key worker.
' For me it’s the diversity of the people we are meeting. We are not just delivering and supporting schools, we are supporting adults with additional needs plus numerous grassroots rugby clubs. I love that this job has offered me the chance to work with people I never thought I would.
The Monday and Tuesday sessions with the adults are really wholesome and seeing us make a difference to their lives is really rewarding xx'
🔵Beth Adams
Workington Town Ladies RLFC
- Session delivery - key worker.
'The best part of the community work is seeing the positive influence it can have on the children’s lives. You see them come in nervous and shy, not knowing anyone on the first day of the camp, to being surrounded by their peers supporting them and pushing them to be better. It’s really amazing to see the shift in their attitudes and watching them grow over such a short space of time. Even if you only help one child that is exactly what we are there to do, it is one of the most rewarding experiences you can be a part of.'
🔵Big Grant Reid
Workington Town RLFC
- session delivery support and volunteer.
'The most positive and rewarding thing for me about the community trust is how much it has changed the club!!
Being a Workington lad and seeing all the kids from the local area being at the club on match days or at the camps speaks volumes on how much work has gone into it.
It’s a honour to be apart of this community team and club because when I was younger I can remember Town players coming into my school and showing us the basics of rugby and having fun which made me start playing rugby and wanted me to play for Workington.
Helping kids and boosting their confidence or teaching them rugby feels like I’m giving back to the community from what it gave me as a child and hopefully to pass that passion on to the future of the club
It’s great seeing 30/40 kids at the club smiling each day last week at the camps having fun because it brings them out as a person and they can show what they can do and even surprise themselves.'
We'd like to thank the volunteers who have also stepped in and helped make these things possible.
We are giving as much back to our Community as we possibly can and we aim to help all our clubs when we can, our community and those within it when we can.
We can't fix the world, but we will certainly keep trying!
Thank you for reading this post and UP the Town!

Not club content but the Huddersfield Giants supporters association organise the matchdays of the Giants Academy, Scholars, Reserves and Women's Super League games and they recently spent an evening in pre-season training with the Women's SL squad.

I'm knackered just watching them do this!

Something additional to note about clubs social media accounts. Often they are run by volunteers (particularly below SL) or low paid staff. I think RL punches above its weight in terms of good content output. This thread is great for highlighting and supporting this great content.

Really?

I would say RL has been awful at getting content out on SM until the last 18m or so.

You haven't been paying attention then. In terms of the size of the sport there has been and is really good content out there.

What good content was going out 2/3/4 years ago?

For a small sport we have been neglecting SM for awhile IMO.

this was a pretty surreal one to see pop up on my twitter feed from Parramatta😂

Having closed down my account on Musk's hellsite in January, I have joined BlueSky but not seen much RL related content yet.

I really hope RL clubs consider establishing more of a presence on BlueSky, and IMG should begin to include BlueSky content viewing data as part of the social media points award.

Click the blue 'Follow All' button in the top corner of each of these two lists mate, that should help bring some good content your way!

It has been suggested to me that teams are not bothering with Bluesky much at this point as posts on the site are not yet included in the social media metrics for IMG points.

Perhaps a little short-sighted in terms of engagement when so many of us are making the switch. I guess though that this just adds an extra burden on those (usually) volunteers who are doing the posting.
