At home v Barrow

Like to think that's a very good draw for us.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

To be fair it's not Wembley I want it's winning the bloody challenge cup. In my life time I've been to four semi finals and lost all of them.

86 beardmore never scored they try his legs were over the dead ball line 90 lord was never off side

The other two Wigan battered us.

My uncle and my dad ended up in the referees room at station road after the bloody train had past. Apparently the referee wasn't best pleased with my uncle.

Save to say he never went again till 1992

I was a youngster for the Lord “offside” but he was never off and we all know Duncan Platt would have slotted that kick

I spoke to Duncan the other year and he said that he felt he was going to get the kick. As it happens we'll never know

I still have nightmares about the 1964 semi finals against Hull KR.

For younger followers of this site we squeaked a draw at Headingley through a last minute Len McIntyre drop goal, were all over them at Station Road before the match was abandoned and were never really in the hunt at Fartown when we lost.

I have a memory of the third match at Fartown when Geoff Robinson elected to go on his own, only to be tackled on the try line when a pass to his right would have sent Geoff Sims in to score in the corner. Is my memory playing tricks or does anyone else remember that happening ?

Re 1964 semi trilogy - John in Oz, you are quite right, Robinson should have sent Sims in. Even after 60 years still not fully recovered from that Wednesday night at Station Road! Aggregate attendance of over 80000 for the 3 matches! Ref mistakes in 1986 and 1990 add to the folklore that we're never going to get to a Challenge Cup final at Wembley.

John. Yes, I also went to all three of those Semi's. To say we were robbed at Station Road is an understatement. Other than the huge disappointment which I still feel, I'm still angry about Harry Poole smashing Dave Parker's jaw. Dave was a superb, classy, loose forward but he was never the same player after that.

I recently had the pleasure of talking to John (Johnny) Donovan who played in those Semi's whilst we were both watching Oldham playing down in Cornwall a couple of years ago.

Oddly enough, I am still more angry about those three games way back in 1964 than he was !

And I still don't even want to think about referee John Holdsworth.
