Warrington out of sorts, have a few out injured, Widnes fans will be baying for blood on the plastic after no game v Warrington in 7 years. No pressure on us, I fancy Widnes to pull off the Mother of all shocks.

If that was to happen then it would be like lighting the blue touch paper and standing well back down at the stadium next to Warrington Tesco - whatever it's called these days.

We might be struggling but I think we'll win this comfortably by 30.

2009 Warrington 25 Hudderfield 16

2010 Warrington 30 Leeds 6

2011 League Leaders Shield Winners

2012 Warrington 35 Leeds 18

Challenge cups and league leaders shields everywhere! We need more silver polish!

A win is all that matters.

Wire have plenty of injuries, but the squad named is more than capable of a comfortable win. No excuses. If they lose this they have basically downed tools.

This fixture was the first Challenge Cup Final I watched on TV as a young lad...  1975.. Widnes are a long way from getting anywhere near these days.

Warrington to win very comfortably.

As a wire fan I wish people would forget that pesky final!

I can't make it due to the short notice Saturday evening kick-off, but over 6000 tickets sold. More than I expected given the general fall-off in interest in the Challenge Cup.

Doubt it has anything really to do with it being the Challenge Cup Jon, the sense of occasion, long standing rivalry and locality of the two clubs will give it the impetus, great attendance with those tickets sold, and bolstered with getting airtime on the regional TV programmes.

I hope it proves to be a competitive game, I can't imagine there is a shock on the cards but if it does happen then that will be one hell of a game I would think.

Yeh exactly this. It's about the rivalry more than anything.

It's my first game for quite a while and I was really in two minds. I didn't fancy paying to see Widnes get hammered by Wire but as the day got nearer I thought better of it. I'm just hoping for something to shout about. I remember before Widnes got to SL the first time, we played Leeds and it was 10-10 at h/t before Leeds pulled away to win 46-10 something like that. I'd take that today.

It being my first time in a while, I'd forgotten what it could be like to watch Widnes. I currently have a pdf ticket and an e-ticket, which is fine apart from the fact they have two different start times on them. One says 5pm and the other 6pm. 🙄

Hopefully you can get in with either ticket responding to the scanner and it being in good working order, when first introduced at my club they malfunctioned on a few occasions.

What ever happened to the pensioner's taking your money and operating the foot pedal to release the turnstiles?

At Oldham, the pensioner took your money, then made you climb over the turnstile...

It's an improvement on the interim system of forcing everybody to buy a ticket from the ticket office on the other side of the stadium. It added an unnecessary step and led to many missing the start of games!
