Lobbygobbler was the one who'd find central London pubs that would show a Friday night SL match and post the information here, so a bunch of us would meet up for that regularly.

Think it was 2012 for me but under another account than the present one.

Sometimes prior to joining I would look in and browse the posts, but quite frankly never had time to post on here with work commitments albeit when not out and about from the office (roughly 20% of the time) I had a computer on my desk, but I would never log on at work, first reason simply to busy running the company, secondly if I caught anyone doing things other than I was paying them to do I would be none to pleased, so do unto yourself what you do to others.

I retired in 2011.

On my profile I'm one of the 2004ers but I joined before then, the first one I ever posted on was the original London forum on Angelfire (anyone remember them) which the club tried to get closed - dread to think how long ago that was!

Or Slippery Steve Morris who played for St George.

But the one I'm thinking of ran the Broncos Forum 2 and was active on rlfans and RSRL, not sure about here.

Back in the day you had a strong cohort of people who were chiefly or entirely union fans. Severus, Shadow, JWAD (he of the four Kiwis of the apocalypse), Clive Woody, one or two more who came and went. A bit of an odd use of your time, but the four I mentioned all brought value to the forum.

Georit, or something like that.

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

Quite often with himself under a different name, as it turned out more than once.

Ah yes. Was it as "jcb" he once got caught out? Forgot to change accounts and signed off a Parksider post as "jcb" and was busted good and proper in front of all 🤣

I think these days people can underestimate how much of a game changer the old message boards were for the clubs.

I remember Darren Abram in his time as Leigh coach pleading with fans not to post speculation about team selections as other clubs routinely checked the forums for injury rumours etc

Yeah I can imagine that had a big impact from the late 00's onwards. As well as here, the only other forum I go on is SkyScraperCity (construction/developments nerdy stuff) and that too used to have a lot more posters in the early 00s than it does today. I will say, forums are still a miles better place for actual discourse than any social media platform could ever be.

I post there on the stadium forums with the same username.

Do you go by a different name or just stick to the UK subforums?

Matt Rodwell was Wire scrum half in our infamous 2002 season and thought it would have a good idea to join up to the Wire messageboard at the time under his own name and participate in some fan engagement.

As that season quickly turned to disaster, and Rodwell's own limited game became apparent, it was a choice I'm sure he regretted abd pretty much made him the lightning rod for lots of fans' frustrations. All a bit bleak.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Stadiums, Leeds Metro Area (and sub forums) and UK skyscrapers in general (100+M). I don't post much, more just a browser. Leeds1 is my user on that site - very edgy I know.

One thing that makes me feel really old is reading that people were at school in the early 00's! It's  pretty scary to realise how time flies and how little you have left. (If you're lucky)

Know what you mean. At 72 pushing 73, when there's talk of 10 years for something to be realized it's a shock to think that I might not be around then!

Going back a looong way, remember the "Bitchslapper"? Mike something, I think.

A longtime troll (claimed to be American) who lost it really badly one day and flounced, never to be seen again.

Been around pre 2004. I used to enjoy Middleton Bulls posts in cross code.

Dare I mention Parksider? He could start an argument in an empty vault.

Last here 3 hours ago?? 👀

Remember Steve Morris and Forum 2. Had no idea the club had tried to ban it! Thank god they didn't; I once won a replica shirt in a competition on there!
Also, very occasionally contributed to RSRL. God, I feel old.

Been on this forum since rlfans went downhill, maybe 10 years now under different guises.

Been posting on various groups though since the mid/late 90s. Long time!

I  have been banned so many times if I had to pay a tenner for each profile there would be enough to bail out  Salford and still have change - been a good(ish) boy since 2017  now though and played nice for the last 8 years

Joined so long ago, in the distant past before the big 2004 reset. Over the intervening years I've managed to maintain my well-known calm, reasonable, analytical, uncritical, informative, independent and softly-spoken persona....plus, of course, there's (was) my contributions  to the politics sub-forum......😀😀.

I recall of course "Cas Vegas", "Dom Joly", "Paley" and others, plus one ot two members who have passed away.

I did once try to change my nom-de- keyboard from JohnM to something more imaginative (don't you DARE!!!!) but was told it was immutable. It seems that policy has relaxed, given recent admissions .

Still, no matter, unless the name Caligula is still free.

Brahmagupta may have introduced the concept of zero into maths, but the RFL have perfected its use in fans consultation.

My profile says Feb 2003. I recall joining when I had a really boring job and used the board to pass time.

It was a time when Salford were having issues. How times change!
