August 2004 it says on my profile but I think I go back further.

Used to be a good crack with some real passionate characters.

We even used to have meet ups at international games and always remember after one game v Kiwis ..I think.. we met in the George Hotel and led by Paly ( though he blamed me) a group of forum members gatecrashed a wedding reception in an adjacent room....fun night no malice and we were even offered some of the buffet.

🤣🤣

Anyone still got their TRL rugby shirts???

I miss the virtual pub. The Scratchings were amazing.

Some of the clients were a bit dodgy though

My profile says Feb 2003. I recall joining when I had a really boring job and used the board to pass time.

It was a time when Salford were having issues. How times change!

You were a regular on RLFans too if memory serves me right?

Still in touch with a fair few Salford fans from those days.

Paley (who started the "what are you listening to?" thread) was a likeable, funny and intelligent member for many years, before he went down a dark ideological rabbit-hole.

I hope he's okay and has regained some level of emotional health.

I found some photos of that meet up today.

I still have my Mighty Penguins shirt, though it appears to have disowned me.

I'm in touch with Paley occasionally on FB.

He does still do a bit of ranting and posting links to certain types of who he doesn't approve but does appear to have calmed down a bit.

Hi Paley if you're reading.

I used to have some saved stuff about the Mobyclaw-Clawphin War.

Can't find anything, sorry.

Remember Steve Morris and Forum 2. Had no idea the club had tried to ban it! Thank god they didn't; I once won a replica shirt in a competition on there!
Also, very occasionally contributed to RSRL. God, I feel old.

It's coming up to 30 years since RSRL was established in late 1995. Three decades of internet argument. I feel it's been worth it 😅

Going back a looong way, remember the "Bitchslapper"? Mike something, I think.

A longtime troll (claimed to be American) who lost it really badly one day and flounced, never to be seen again.

I remember him, Mike Gibson? Something like that.

Possibly; it was ages ago. His meltdown was hilarious, though.

I refused to pay the £10 so reverted just to rlfans for a while but was on here before then.

Also on rec.sport.rugby.league, albeit mostly lurking, from its original breakaway from rec.sport.rugby in 1995 onwards until it petered out. And John Drake's RLSA website and its original Virtual Terrace, essentially a bulletin board sort of thing, until it got absorbed into rlfans. But mostly I was on rlfans which I joined when it opened in 1999.

Just checked, and I first posted on rec.sport.rugby in 1991. Yikes. Lots of posts by vbfg, vibrating bum faced goat, who I imagine some on here will remember.

On the subject of Union trolls, Dutoni was a personal favourite of mine. (I think one of his other aliases, Georit, has already been mentioned).

I was a long time lurker on here until I eventually joined in 2015, after I finally gave up on the Virtual Terrace on rlfans where I was more active beforehand because the club forums were better there.

I’m pretty sure I was on that one from the 1990’s, under the same previous nom de plume. Seems like quite a few characters were on both, especially the Union ones.

Some other names from back in the day that were frequent posters and who I liked for different reasons - voteronniegibbs, Steve May, Johnoco, Chapatti Pants.

There were also some lunatics such as Wendall, a Wire fan who was 35 going on 13 and wanted to fight everybody as the self-proclaimed leader of the “Warrington Casuals” 😂

Ah yes. Was it as "jcb" he once got caught out? Forgot to change accounts and signed off a Parksider post as "jcb" and was busted good and proper in front of all 🤣

It was actually "jbd" and I was reading the forum when he did that! Someone quoted him and asked

"Why have you put jbd at the bottom of this post?"

Bloody hilarious.

I was hoping to mention him, ridiculously biased Leeds fan. He once started a thread titled

"Right then, let's be having ya"

or summat similar, in which he offered any Hull FC fan a bet that Hull would finish below Hull KR that particular season. Happily, that was when we were better and a few took him up on it, if memory serves. He of course welched and pretended he'd never made the offer. Even with my renowned lack of IT skills, I managed to dig the thread out and make it resurface. He squirmed hilariously.

Mick Gledhill is a nice enough guy at heart but another who lets his passion for his club make him look rather daft sometimes. I remember one night Bradford were playing over in Lancashire and he claimed to have missed the last train home. Mags "amh" was trying to help him by asking if anyone could put him up but he actually watched the game in a pub in Bradford and missing the last train back from the far west was a complete fabrication.

My profile suggests April 2004 but, like others, I feel this was the time the site was rejigged but I wasn't posting much before then.

I miss Nicky "Saintsbird" who I met on a few occasions. I think she allegedly had an unfortunate experience with someone of this parish at one of the George Hotel TRL meet ups and never posted on here again after that.

I also miss the Wakey fan who was originally from the North East "Eleftherios" who I met at a Toon MW some years back. He told me he had an illness around that time, really hope he pulled through. Sadly, we've lost a few members over the years.

Steve the Wigan fan was a rather acerbic character, met him and Padge for the first time some years back on the same day in the Anvil pub. I can't remember what his earlier posting name was but I think he returned as "Jim Prendle".

I seem to remember "Cas Vegas" being rather ace, I'm sure one or two will confirm this.

Some great memories.

Just had a look at a day from 2001 on one of those internet time machine things - I was here then but didn't post very much. The more prominent posters were people like Frank Machin (later L'angelo Mysterioso), Ed I Tackle (who I think is Padge now ?), League Freak, Chairman M, Millward Is A Gurner, Guess Who, Daza XIII.....

I was here in that era

Ive been here since 2003 easy. But ive just rebranded and not been on much recently as I deleted my account in a censorship rage a few months ago.

Bonus points if you can work out who I was.

Very silly thing to post on here if you're trying to fly under the radar.

Bye bye, before you kick off again.
