Just had a look at a day from 2001 on one of those internet time machine things - I was here then but didn't post very much. The more prominent posters were people like Frank Machin (later L'angelo Mysterioso), Ed I Tackle (who I think is Padge now ?), League Freak, Chairman M, Millward Is A Gurner, Guess Who, Daza XIII.....

Now there's some names!

League Freak has a very inflated sense of himself! Remember he ran a website for a bit, not sure how successful it was or if it's still going, but just remember being full of it. Character though!

Wasn't there a Hannibal Machin too? I used to always think they were brothers 🤣

I've been trying to remember what username the late and much-missed Ray Gent used to post with.

That was a shocking and sad day when we heard of his death.

He was an odd one. Still playing the same character now on Twitter, I think he thinks people care who he is. Didn't he come over to the UK for a trip once, and couch surf with some people on here? Always struck me as one of those slightly sad characters sat in their Mum's spare bedroom in their underpants, eating crisps, surrounded by detritus.

Prior to that I was on RLFans for a bit around 2003. I remember Dutoni from there.

Ah the esteemed Dutoni, he was my favourite Union troll, had endless arguments with him on rlfans when I was old enough to know better. He must have been in his late 70's even then, you could tell from the date of all his references, so sure he's long since departed this moral coil

That is a magnificent final typo.

Brahmagupta may have introduced the concept of zero into maths, but the RFL have perfected its use in fans consultation.

Was detritus one of Clive Woody's alter egos as well?

I joined in 2013. Im not a frequent poster but do log on a few times a week to catch up. I find it very interesting with some really good blokes posting. There’s the occasional idiot like Parky but overall first class comments. One bloke who I thought spoke sense I haven’t seen on here for a while was Rotherham fev fan who I think was called Robin. Is he still about?

I remember someone (possibly his wife) sharing when goldcard passed away. That was a sad read. RIP.

Indeed it was. I think Goldcard’s name was Bill and his wife started posting under “Heart of Gold” after he passed.

Which was called simply something like 'The Petition? I bought it and it's possibly in the loft still. I do remember there was a lot of online contributions, presumably including here.

He's doing fine. No longer on here, and no longer living in Rotherham.

I'll give him a heads up.

I have to add that I really miss "HullRover" and "Dimmest Star".

Mind you, I'm thinking of buying a telescopic sight so that may change soon.

Back to te OP - 6th December 2005 in my case, which is frightening as to how time has flown by. was on RL fans before it turned ionto an echo chamber  it seems this board is going the same way sadly.

For those who miss League Freak his ewebsite is alive and well https://www.leaguefreak.com/

I think some are confusing the Freak with Dally Messenger who did come to the UK.
