I mightn't like the way he expressed himself, but I think there's an element of classism here keeping people from a certain socio-economic background in line.

Yeah, those upper class public school boys that the RFL is filled with, holding the working class down...

I think there is an element of classism in your post that suggests working class people will naturally use slurs.

If you're going to post personal opinions on social media, do it via a personal account.

Not one that screams "LOOK AT ME I PLAY FOR WIDNES"

It's stupidity manifest.

Yes if your social media has a direct association with your employer then yes you do have to be careful what you post on social media.  Pretty much standard fair.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Unless you think "free speech" doesn't come with consequences, which it does, and some obviously don't want to accept!

Its the cry of a moron "oh they're stopping our free speech" no, they aren't, they are rightly holding you accountable for the things you say.

A halifax player and a fev player have been sanctioned for similar offences in the last couple of years.

I should have said many others. I wasn't aware of the Fax player. Thanks for the useful addendum.

I do find it strange that a player using unpleasant words on social media results in a 3 match ban (and rightly so), but a coach circulating pictures of the same player in a noose and shouting instructions to injure specific players and where to target them results in the coach missing no games whatsoever. And there were rather more people that heard the calls to target players for injury than there were people reading the player's social media account.
