Mark Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Be interesting to see what team comes out, Morgan was free from his ban but didnt play and I tihnk eveyryone agrees our half backs arent clicking "When you participate in sporting events, it's not whether you win or lose; it's how drunk you get." -Homer Simpson "I couldn't be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season" Ian Holloway
wayner Posted March 25 Posted March 25 When you say everyone agrees the half backs aren't clicking - does that include our coach I guess we will find out on Sunday. 1
Mark Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 I tihnk I would go with, Briers Anderson Higham Morgan Sargent Paga Stevens Sidlow Hartill Shingler Rodden Cox Beardsworth Subs A Lynch T Porter T Kelly Duffy ANOTHER - It has been Sinclair but he looked injured on Sunday I know its controversial leaving out Abram and Roby, I want to see other options then Abram and if I was to play him it would be as a sub to cover a number of positions instead of Porter and at the moment althogh Roberts looks solid at the back, Briers seemed to offer more going forward. I don't think Roby is good enough defensively and is too maverick in todays game with his teammates often waiting for the ball while he does his own thing, and he is a penalty machine. I think a lot of people may disagree with me on that player though Out of the young lads, I have been most impressed with Beardsworth, Shingler and Higham up to now and Anderson before weekend but I think he was played out of poisition which made the ommision of Morgan more confusing "When you participate in sporting events, it's not whether you win or lose; it's how drunk you get." -Homer Simpson "I couldn't be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season" Ian Holloway
wayner Posted March 25 Posted March 25 I think Briers needs to be one of the half backs and I am a fan of Roby and would always want him in the team. I also think Abram's best position is fullback.
Mark Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 I said it would be controversial, I can give up Paga in the halves and put Abram at full back and move up briers, This is the third coach that has discarded Roby, he is undoubtly talented but there must be a reason why every coach has left him out? Might be attitude, we dont see what goes on in training "When you participate in sporting events, it's not whether you win or lose; it's how drunk you get." -Homer Simpson "I couldn't be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season" Ian Holloway
Urge Posted March 26 Posted March 26 I'd probably go with something like this: 1 Abram 2 Anderson 3 Higham 4 Lynch 5 Sumner 6 Paga 7 Briers 8 Sinclair 9 Hartill 10 Shingler 11 Rodden 12 Cox 13 Beardsworth 14 Jones/Davies 15 Roby 16 Sidlow 17 Kelly-Duffy I can't disagree with you on Roby, but I'm willing to give him a last chance as there's a player in there somewhere if he sorts his discipline out, otherwise I'm happy with Porter. If Briers/Paga doesn't work then it has to be time for Stevens, although I reckon he'll still go with Abram at 7 again this weekend. 1
Urge Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Scrap that, get Kenny Baker straight in there. Thought he was great for us in the Championship. Edited March 26 by Urge 1

Had a game for St Judes i think this year before he signed for us, we needed a bit more experience since Case and Walker left 1 "When you participate in sporting events, it's not whether you win or lose; it's how drunk you get." -Homer Simpson "I couldn't be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season" Ian Holloway

The fans loved him straight away. He always gives 100%.
Mark Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 An entertaining game, Think Baker made a big difference when he came on. Fitness told in the end, I was stood behind the posts and two telling conversations happened, Baker saying what are we doing to stop them keep scoring from teh scrum on the same side and I think it was MIcky Higham coming on after a try saying, stop kicking it high to the biggest man in rugby league! 1 "When you participate in sporting events, it's not whether you win or lose; it's how drunk you get." -Homer Simpson "I couldn't be more chuffed if I were a badger at the start of the mating season" Ian Holloway

Entertaining second half First half we were awful
wayner Posted March 31 Posted March 31 I think it was entertaining if you were a neutral fan We were poor out wide on both flanks defended poorly - was impressed with Rodden, Baker and Brown in the forwards and all the other forwards had a good dig against a strong tackling Goole team. Roby started to find gaps in the second half as Goole tired. Briers kicking was good - conversions from the touchline were fantastic. Still don't think our half backs are creating an awful lot and would still like to see Stevens given some game time. Its not often a player scores a hat trick and is on the losing side. 1

It was good to see George back to some of his best form. He gives 100% and obviously is a confidence player. Browny came on with a point to prove and certainly proved it. If he's left out next week it would be a travesty. Anderson and Sargent looked dangerous with the ball but both flanks are woefully inexperienced and were exposed defensively. Maybe the second rowers aren't covering well enough? We should look to spread it out to the three quarters in attack as we have finally got bags of pace across the field which is something we have lacked in a long time. We certainly have an exciting young team who will no doubt entertain and frustrate in equal measure. I guess we will need some patience to allow them to develop and flourish. As for the forwards Shingler and Beardsworth look the real deal as exciting prospects. From the established players Rodden is clearly a class above whilst I'd rather see one of our many youngsters play over Cox. Kenny Baker came on and played well too.
