Enjoyed the game today although it was cold sat in that stand. I dislike sitting behind the sticks much prefer the sideline, you don’t miss much of the game from there.
Goal kicks let us down in the end!

Im Fev and im proud

Yep really cold behind sticks today. Thought we did enough to win and felt we were better side. Difference was goal kicking and on another day they'd have all gone over. However we go again on Friday with a very tough game v York.

Re goal kicking today without me reading any previous posts. I am not a Fev fan. I did not attend the game today. So i am going by the BBC website that Addy kicked 2 from 6. Right so even i know that it is a difficult art and that Addy is not an out an out goal kicker. I also understand that Reynolds is possibly carrying some sort of ankle injury. So i am putting this one on the coach. Bailey O’Connor is a very capable kicker. Was this explored and utilised at any point?

First time Oldham were in front was at 30-24 after Springer was sent off. They didn't miss a goal kick Drinkwater while we missed 5.Reynolds 1 Addy 2 and Hampshire 2.Hampshire tried a 40/20 and put the ball out on the full resulting in Oldham scoring a try and conversion.Turner had 3 men on him and still managed to get the ball down.Wynne scored 2 and was narrowly in touch trying for his hat trick. How many games will Springer miss for his red card ?we will miss him.Hardy tried his heart out as usual.

O’Connor is a class kicker. But like lots of clubs still deemed too young and way down the pecking order for regular selection etc. Even Turner decent kicker just ordinary in open play etc.

Hampshire took first kick

then addy took the next 4 kicks kicking 2/4

reynolds took the last kick and missed

finally Hampshire had a got for past half way to level game at the end what was a massive ask unless it what Jamie Rooney kicking 😂😂

Ok thank you. It is now down to the coaching staff to sort. I like PC as a player but so far I am thinking he spouts excrement after every defeat etc.

Did Connor Jones kick one? Rovers twitter said so.

Edit: Nevermind, he didn't, I can't read.

Fair play to Featherstone today, though you played an excellent game (apart from the sending off) and some of your attacking stuff was excellent. Your league position does not do you justice and you are a lot better side than you league position suggests. I think a draw today would have been a fair result and I'm glad your goal kickers had a mare otherwise i think the two points would have been yours.

Also great to have some away fans at Boundary Park today giving it a good atmosphere, sorry it was cold but that's Oldham for you 😁

All the best for the rest of the season apart from the remaining couple of games against Oldham!

I still have nightmares from the games against Halifax in 2010/2011 when we were beaten by golden point drop goals, but what kept Fax in the game both times was the immaculate goal kicking of Patterson, who would never have got anywhere near the Fev first team.

Surprised at that. He only ever kicked 2 goals for Dewsbury. Where does the assertion of him being a 'CLASS KICKER' come from?

Oldham had a few moments but I think overall we caused them more problems than they did us.  Bet side lost for me.

What we have to do for a 6 again is beyond me.

Like I always attempt to do I will afford you the curtesy of a reply. I know you appear to be a stats man or woman. However don’t always get yourself muddled with stats. Sometimes it’s about opportunity and coaches being aware of their own players skill set. I have seen BOC kick goals at various age groups. Ok I hear you already “But this is the professional game”. Well let me tell you not all professional kickers are any good as you have just discovered. So MY assertion comes from witnessing BOC over the years including from the touch line in schools finals at Wembley.

Interesting that Reynolds attempted to convert the Hardcastle try at 30-28. Hampshire's attempt from 55 or so metres was very close, had the distance and then some.

Reynolds is still clearly injured. But who am I to pass comment?

I'm not sure what your point is here? Yes he's obviously still injured or he'd have kicked throughout. I found it interesting that a one legged Reynolds was seen as our best chance at that point.

Desperate times call for desperate measures maybe ?

I think with hindsight they should have said prior to the game that Reynolds shouldn't be kicking so Hampshire replaces him - whether he misses his first attempt or not. I don't think Hampshire fancied it though as his first attempt was poor as were some of his attempts last week (he seemed to get frustrated last week after missing).  To be fair though - like Reynolds - he has just returned from an injury.  We know Addy's ok but probably unlikely to bang over 6/6.

Interesting that after the London game game Cooke mentioned the quality of the goalkicking and how he would have a word with them.  I don't think they miss on purpose and I can't imagine that giving them a kick up the backside has ever done any good.

Reminds me of a few years ago when Hall was having a bad time so we tried other options which of course didn't work.

Ironically Hampshire's last kick which missed was probably our best kick of the game.  55 yards out and would have cleared the crossbar comfortably.

When you think about it - the conversion thing is an odd rule really.  I'd be happy if they got rid and we only had penalty goals.  e.g. A barge over try under the sticks gets a guaranteed 6pts yet a length of the field effort ending with the winger flying in at the corner is a likely 4pts.   I'll write to the RFL...

I think it was a risk/reward issue. That was a touchline kick with us 2 points behind with about a minute remaining. There was a discussion between Reynolds and the Fev physio after the try, then at first it looked like Addy was going to take the kick before Reynolds then walked back to take it.

What Sunday's game has done is set up the semi very nicely! I trust you guys & gals will travel in much greater numbers next time & hopefully the Joe Royle stand will be full to capacity.

Will the narrow defeat on Sunday give Fev greater motivation to win? Or will the fact that we were fortunate not to lose wipe out any complacency that might have existed in the Oldham camp?

It's going to be an exciting few weeks as the build-up to the match gathers momentum - bring it on, after several Challenge Cup semi-final defeats on neutral grounds over the years, we are now at home in a semi as the Holy Grail (for Oldham fans) awaits the winners.

A few prayers will be said in Oldham the night before the game 🙏

Nothing I can see on the RFL website about the Match Review Panel and Gadwin's red card. I'd love to think this means he's avoided a ban, but maybe this is another of the weeks where the cases are delayed until next week.

Does that mean he would play against Toulouse and the ban will take effect the week after ?

So our Saturday night prayers weren't answered 😜  Congrats to Fev on a near-perfect performance on Sunday, I doubt we'd have got close to you even with a full team out.

Best Wishes for the final, always been a lot of respect between our two clubs.
