Having some disposable income, I decided to dive in and experience a RL Management game. The animations are clunky and there aren't any official SL logos, but it is wonderful. (I'm in the process of adding in the logos manually).

In Football Manager, I am inclined to starting in the bottom tier and moving on up, which I decided to bring forward to this game.

Playing as Hesingham ARLFC in the NCL Division 3, I faced a four league opponents in preseason friends, getting 3 wins and a loss. I had to do an overhaul of my squad buying two new wingers, a centre, a HB, a FE, a Hooker and a Lock (and some others).

Before the league season started off, we faced Featherstone (I presume Rovers, it certainly wasn't the Lions)in the Challenge Cup First Round, getting beaten 36-6. Not such an auspicious start.

Round 1: Our first home game, our first home win v East Leeds, 28-0.

Round 2: An away win v Drighlington, 10-16.

Round 3: We won away at East Leigh, rubbing salt into the wound by going for the drop goal. 0-11.

Round 4: A 19-8 win against Featherstone Lions marks not only a DG but our first career (first half)hattrick of tries by Winger Darren Parrin.

Round 5: This away trip to Beverley proved to be our hardest task yet - while we secured a 12-14 win it was very touch and go.

Round 6: A much less stressful game at home to Bentley, another DG. 11-4

Round 7: A Round horribis if ever there was one. Playing Distington at home, our Second Rower Jason Ethall saw red and was dismissed after only 20 mins and it was an uphill battle. Despite a valiant effort we were beaten 10-12.

Round 8: My last match of the evening saw us away at Seaton. Winger Theodore Windars got his sixth try of the season to see a 10-16 victory!

Round 9: Another day, another affair that was as tight as an elastic band - we lost by a Golden Point, 10-11 to a good Milford Marlins side. A good performance by acting FB Gareth Wolton, who scored his first try.

Round 10: Away to East Leeds, and a trip just as easy as out opening game, this time 0-22 in our favour! A great hattrick by young winger Theodore Windars, and a well-deserved man of the match!

Round 11: Our biggest league defeat, and our third at home, this time losing  18-22 to Drighlington. Hooker/Lock Keith Effart scored his third try of the season!

Round 12: Another comprehensive win, 26-0 at home to Leigh East, with HB Odille Chombers scoring a hattrick of tries and a hattrick of goals - of course, he was man of the match!

Round 13: Unlucky 13? Nope - We beat Featherstone Lions 6-16 with occasional winger Sean Twegg (Tweggy as I know him) getting a try and Man of the Match Award. Starting to believe we can get promoted.

Round 14: Beverley came to us, and wow, we had another nail-biting match with two points separating us as we left with a 12-10 win! This was the first outing of a new signing - 16 year old FE, Reece Collister made an instant impact as he scored a try and 2 conversions. First Man of the Match for our starting FB, William Warnock!

Round 15: Away to Bentley, and another win, 12-16. I resisted the urge to tell my players "You will be winning so much, you'll get tired of winning!" as I am not a fool - this run has to end. Warnock got a try and another Man of the Match.

Round 16: Top of the League with 3 games to play. We go to 2nd place Distington who are two points behind us. When they came to us they beat us narrowly so I feared a repeat event. I needn't have worried in retrospect, as we smashed they 4-22, Centre Theo Houghton scoring a brace of tries. ANOTHER William Warnock MOTM Award!!!

Round 17: At Home to Seaton Rangers, and I feel like we have our foot of the gas - While we win 10-4 it was a very nervy match as several first teamers were out of action. Darren Perrin back in action, as the winger gets MOTM.

Round 18: First game of the Season proper, and boy, were the boys at the beach! Milford Marlins are a good team as our last match demonstrated, but I feel like our performance deserved better than a 12-14 win! Another William Warnock MOTM, what a surprise! On to the Playoff Semi-Final!

I've been considering buying this but games are so buggy at release now that I wait a few months until they do a soft relaunch once everything is working.

It certainly is buggy and I have reported all the bugs I've found as well as suggesting a bunch (over 20) of gameplay suggestions and improvements to make a better experience..

In a matter of speaking, yes. You can make your own clubs, competitions, etc.

I've given up on real-life Rugby League so I might as well try the virtual.

Got it a couple of months ago, haven’t played much. Might start a save though. Do you use the 3D or 2D engine, I find the 3D one pretty slow and ugly.

While the 3D match engine is a flawed one, I still prefer using it as I like seeing my players score in detail.

Started with Workington town, not going too great. Managed to bring in NRL players Young Tonumaipea and Issac Lumelume though.
