Cheadle Leyther Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Tom Amone to return to Superleague via Β Castlefrd this season and Hull KR next season. Meanwhile deafening silence from the Leopards despite having cap and overseas signing space. Not only that but we are in a Challenge Cup semi final next month, and would have been confident of winning with Tom in the team. Has he forgot the time he had at Leigh or is it all down to his agent and money?
daz39 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Does a player have to consider returning to a previous employer?Β I'd have liked us to sign Dom Young, Kruise Leeming and Will Pryce when they moved clubs but unfortunately life doesn't work like that. 7 500 off 5,000, please sign https://www.change.org/StadiumforTheGiants
OMEGA Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Maybe he wasnβt happy or fully comfortable at Leigh for some reason! He left you once and now isnβt coming back, alongside Asiata maybe itβs an indication that something off the field wasnβt satisfactory for themΒ 1

Just Browny Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Haha I dunno. Maybe he cares about earning money for his family more than he does about wearing the iconic *checks notes* leopard print jersey. 6 I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, Β£7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a Β£2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.
Snowys Backside Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Only a short career. If the moneys hot, go for it.Β Β Good luck Tom. Went in too greedy but you donβt get if you donβt ask !

Has he forgot the time he had at Leigh or is it all down to his agent and money? He had a lot of good player's around him at Leigh who assisted him reaching the standards he did, no disrespect to Cas but those type of player's are not there I should imagine whatever he will be earning at Cas he will earn every penny, but good luck to him he gave good service to Leigh. As for a Leigh snub, I just hope we are well down the way in negotiations in securing a No 6 from down under, as much as I would have loved to have seen Tom back at Leigh, I do feel a stand off is more the priority at the moment. 2

phiggins Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Leigh have one quota spot left, and the 6 quota players we do have are contracted for 2026 and in some cases beyond. Given the need for a half back, a deal for Amone was going to be dependant on finding a way to get rid of Aaron Pene, or maybe Alec Tuitivake, on loan for the rest of the year. Given they both featured in the first team this week, that was always going to be unlikely. That said, the head coach has said he wants players in ahead of the cup semi final, so I imagine he will be pretty annoyed if that doesn't happen. Meanwhile, the club seems to be restricting itself because of their refusal to deal with Sam Ayoub. 1

Don't think that's allowed within the rules...........he would still be classed as KR player, and they have no quota spots available. Also, I can't see Rovers subsidising his salary for the rest of this year

Why would you even consider that Higgy? And Pene did OK when he came on the field granted it was Wakefield, but more games under his belt and he could be the assest that we need, it seems to me that it has been more of an attitude with him other than a capability thing, he has all the tools to be a good SL player he played 18 games for Melbourne Storm and 14 for New Zealand Warriors, up to Mr Lam to get his head right, Adrian doesn't often fail with his recruits from down under no need to fail with Aaron Pene.

Leigh did it with Ben Nakubuwai this year. It would be a combination of Rovers and/or Bulldogs subsidising his salary this year.Β

Not saying that I would loan him out. But if we needed to free up a quota spot to bring Amone in, on the assumption that any new half back we might want to bring in will also be quota, then it wouldn't be Armstrong, Niu, Ipape or Liu that make way, it would be one of the bench props. Pene was the most likely, but once he featured in the first team, we were never likely to sign Amone.

Thunder Road Posted April 14 Posted April 14 There could be another explanation.Β Leigh may not have quota availability due to the fact that an Australian half back may have been signed.. Tom Amone was great for us as wasΒ Asiata.Β People move on because that's life.. Good luck to Tom in his future endeavours. He was a servant for Leigh and was part of that dream I witnessed.Β 1

Very disappointing as I think most Leigh fans think that getting to Wembley again this season is our main aim.

Hull Kingston Rovers, now Leigh Leopards. Hull KR are currently full on their overseas quota and believed to be full, or incredibly close to, on the salary cap meaning an immediate move could not be done but Willie Peters and Paul Lakin appear to have worked their magic for next season. One side who wonβt be signing Amone for 2025 are Leigh Leopards who, despite previously being reported as βleading the chaseβ, have been ruled out by owner DerekΒ Beaumont who claimed that the club had not been in any negotiations with their former forward. 1
Tommy Johnson Posted April 14 Posted April 14 aswell as Tom Amone , Hull Kingston Rovers chasing Adam Reynolds for 2026.

Secondly if part subsidising Cas this season has achieved his signing, then I can see a logic in that. This type of thing goes on 'under the counter' as they say. Β
