Wigan by 18. If Saints can keep them under ten Wellens will see that as a victory, with the board offering him a new five year deal.

Am looking forward to this. I am really interested to see how our pack goes, and whether Walters will continue his development into a class act in the middle. Lots can happen during the game, but I think our best level is higher than Saints’ just now.

I dread to think what Wigan are going to do to whichever poor ###### we choose to play at left centre this week!

The big call for Wellens is what he does with the spine. Whitby is very young but on last week's evidence is the best kicker at the club. We cannot go into this match without a kicking game as we have for most of this year.

Saying that, I don't think Wellens drops Lomax, so Whitby will be on the bench at best. Ultimately, I can't see us being good enough to touch Wigan so maybe it's a moot point anyway!

Will be at the game - taking my 10 and 8 year olds to their first GF game at Wigan

Dreading it and think we'll get panned by 20+. Just not enough quality fit in the backs: if we had Feldt and Robertson in there (and I was confident Wellens would pick Whitby to bring a much needed kicking game) I'd be more optimistic.

Truth is we are miles behind Wigan currently in terms of quality on the pitch and coaching off it.

Not entirely sure what to make of Saints this year. At times they look great, but they have come up short every time they've played a good team and I wonder if there's a bit of flat track bully about them. I expect they will raise their game against Wigan, but all things being equal Wigan look like much the better side. I'll go for Wigan by 12.

Can't see anything but a Wigan victory but Saints will give it there all as usual.

Wigan have turned out massive underdogs in this fixture in the past and won, and vice versa. All bets are off on Good Friday game.

Video referee : Liam Rush from Wigan.

How wrong can you be. Surprisingly so with your fixation on referees and where they may live

We are dull & predictable MZH, in some matches it has looked as if we have changed our usual plan and played quite expansive RL. But then Wellens has panicked and told the side to go back to the mind numbingly dull bore ball. But tomorrow that may be the best option for us.

When the Saints fans are begging for an untested 18 year old to play in the halves you know they are in bother. Not that i am complaining being a Wiganer. Bring on the game. Derby match so form out of the window. Hope Peet let's the shackles off Field and French earlier this week and we go for them early. Last week vs Hull KR he kept them out of the game until the second half after the forwards had done their bit. He could well do that again. It's a tactic he has used in quite a few big games.

Wigan Saints is the original Derby!

Correct:

On our family's Knowsley Estate, you had St Helens at the southern end, and the town of Wigan at the northern end. At Easter, a game was arranged between the two sides which became known as the local derby.

Is this the place for me to say this isn’t a derby match? 🤣🤣🤣

You are correct. It isn't a derby. It's a Derby. This and the horse race are the only ones that can use the capital D correctly.
