With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Clearly not the clubs fault.  Looks like the third party company have not been communicating, hence the club making the correct decision in cancelling the event.

I had hoped it would attract a different demographic to the game. Sadly not.

It was my hope that this event would be a very good opportunity to introduce our club/game to Oldhamers who traditionally wouldn't of come to match and hopefully a few of them may of really enjoyed they day out and returned for another game.

Obviously not pointing fingers anywhere but it's a shame we couldn't of seen this through.

I’m told this dance company just would not comply with the safety regulations and also they have charged lots of families more money to take part and the club is very unhappy as they have worked hard to reduce costs for their fans and the only monies the club was getting was ticket sales nothing else, it seems someone has been trying to take advantage.

That’s all kind of wrong and I’m glad the club have distanced itself from that kind of behaviour.

Shame that, no criticism to any of the board showing ambition and drive trying to put our club on the map, this event didn't work out, we move on and plan the next one, up the yeds 🔴⚪️

I was shocked at how much kids were being charged to compete. It was from a parent from one of the local dance clubs.

I don't think we have heard the last of this.

I’m glad the club pulled the plug on this. Disgraceful in my opinion and there was a chance that the families would think that was being done by the club. It wasn’t. Good riddance.

Fair play and credit to the club for trying something amazing; if the shenanigans referred to above are correct then full credit for getting out before it turned into a full-scale embarrassment. A great gesture and good publicity might be to offer free tickets to the registered dancers and a parent (maybe half price for the adult). Sounds like a disaster averted.

Frustrating if the dance company went rogue and tried to cut corners whilst charging a premium to the dancers.

From our point of view it's important to look to reduce the damage caused. There were 2,500 dancers and families who undoubtedly now have a sour taste in their mouth. Whilst it's nothing that Oldham RLFC have done, it's likely that many will see no difference between the dance company and our club.

Sure Bill and company will look at what they can do. However, is there anything we can do as fans? Like I'm not sure on practicalities of this but I'd happily donate the cost of a couple of adult tickets to look to get some of them to attend if they still wanted to. (or if not this game maybe the cup game?)

Upsetting a bunch of dance mum’s seems like a brave move…

Just come back from the fans forum.

The club are in talks to get dancers and an artist on the pitch before or during the semi final to give back those children and families who have missed out.

From listening to Bill.. the blame for this event being cancelled lays at the door of the dance company.

That came over loud and clear. Well explained ( as far as legal constraints allowed) by Bill

Great video from Bill tonight explaining the situation.

Well done Bill. Something was off about this from the start. I hope people can see that this is not the club’s fault and they were not profiteering from the kids. I wonder whether Sigala was even ever booked in the first place. Absolutely nothing from him about this on his social media.
