I would ditch the captain’s challenge, as we don’t have the skilled people and the technology to carry out checks on anything quickly enough, and it’s dire having 60 minute halves.

I thought it was a cracking, though flawed, game. Wire stepped up. For some reason our timing was really off - I thought French was very ordinary indeed in that respect.

To get 4 from 4 in this block of fixtures: Saints, both Hulls away and Wire on neutral territory is a fantastic achievement. I think the name of the game for us is to be in the top 2 at the end of the year. That is a massive advantage. That looks achievable, especially if Leigh/HKR get to Wembley.

An accident it may have been but ask Saints player Murphy if that mitigation works.

accidents happen for sure, but some are more likely to happen than others, especial if going in with a reckless disregard and hitting a player about a 3 feet beyond from where the ball was coming down.  Of course he didn't mean to hit the player with his leading knee,,, anyway that was a different match...

They're still getting it wrong a lot of the time.

After each CT, Sky put up a graphic showing total CT figures for SL. The last one I saw showed something like 5 successful, 5 unsuccessful and one inconclusive. Anyupdate on that?

Scrap it ? Keep it? Evolve and refine it? Captains learn how to use it?

Bernard Manning lives! Welcome to be New RFL, the sport's answer to the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club.

Clunky and lethargic but don't forget Exiled. It's around magic weekend where we start the mid season fitness drop off before it starts getting ramped up to peak fitness around early September time.

It was a magic weekend with 3 matches each day so you will compare what happens in games, I certainly don't back saints but even I could see how ridiculous the decision was, but following opinions on here doesn't surprise me how certain fans come to view incidents.

Maybe but my immediate reaction was the right decision and was shouting at the commentators they were wrong.

Good to see differing opinions...

Hope you enjoyed Magic... no matter what ref/VR decisions.

The games were mostly brilliant, I have been round long enough to see MW terrible decisions (Ganson Leeds/Bradford at Cardiff) one other strange decision was the collision with the referee (French try) when I last played if the ball hit the officials it was a scrum to the attacking side. Just wondering why it wasn't even looked at.

The ball didn’t hit the referee in the Bevan try

Yes, i must admit, I was received to see that there was no charge for the Wire player there and that it appears to just be accepted as an accident all round.

Never said it did, but he obstructed the defense, I was referring to on the unusual circumstances when a ball hits the referee it's an attack scrum, I wondered why it was different, but I researched it and see it's judged differently, but at least I gave you the opportunity to get another like by misreading my post.

So what did you mean that it wasn’t even looked at? It didn’t need to be looked at by the VR and would have been reviewed by the MRP as a matter of course.

BTW I’ve given you a like so you don’t feel left out

It was just one of those things.

The referee was in a good position and obviously didn’t block Thewlis deliberately so just a clash. It happens and has probably happened to all referees at some stage. Play on was the correct decision

Plus, we all know how that story was always going to end.

Its a "rugby incident '

If you read my reply I stated that after researching I found out why it was treated differently, and if you look through my records I give far more likes than I received and that's because I simply don't care if people agree with me but will admire well thought out replies.

Agreed. From memory though we have seen the odd player in trouble where they could see the ref.

I do just think it was a high pace accident tho.

It is, but we have seen charges for similarity incidents.

As you say this was an accident.  The other ones, where players have been charged, were definitely deliberate. Hock & Houston spring to mind

The game could have got away from us in the first half but thought we were the better side in the second. Dufty made a bad error but responded with a big hand in the two tries at the end; that's the response you want I guess.

Josh Thewlis had an outstanding game, three assists I made it.

But bet he’s dropped next week along with leyland

Jake Thewlis maybe dropped for Ashton but Josh has the shirt nailed on, I know there's an element of sarcasm in the post but I expect Leyland to play until Williams is back, last week his defence was good but limited in attack ( his strength).

It’s already been well leaked that sneyd and Ratchford are playing and the word games and squad release is purely incidental - leyland did well and truly enough and tbh never showed difficulty when he played Leigh in pre season or Catalan in SL - it’s suited the narrative to blame him imo as not a local lad and easy scape goat! He needs time and a nailed on position and expectation of either a 6 or 7 to develop his attack - he set up at least one try in vegas and against Catalan and Wigan too!
Jake is fantastic as a young player and will be hard for him to be dropped
