This was mentioned on Forty 20 tonight, because the Stereophonics are playing at the John Smiths. Dewsbury really the best option for a Super League game?

It's there only option, Huddersfield out because if the concert, Halifax relaying there pitch.  There is no where else in the Huddersfield district.

Apologies to all Huddersfield and Salford fans but both clubs are currently basket cases and a joke dragging the whole competition and sport down and it’s about time they were booted out of super league and someone else was given a go like Toulouse and York or Bradford even.

The stadium facilities are excellent and ideal for a club the size of Huddersfield. It is not far off being an SL stadium now and it will probably come across very well on TV.

Wiganers will find it more convenient to get to as well.

The Bradford that played a full season at Dewsbury? That Bradford?

It's a temporary one-off move, within the same district, to accommodate a one-off special event. It's really not that deep.

Didn't Wigan have to play a game in Widnes because of a wedding?

Saints played a whole season in Widnes, they should have been kicked out of SL.

It was 5 years a go...

And tehcnically it was about 2 games due to covid 😉

Might as well say well York played at Heworth in 2015.

Dewsbury's a tidy little ground.  I don't think it's a problem as a one off. W

Tidy if small by SL standards stadium. The ground has been transformed over the last 12 years and has car parking and two covered stands. And the terracing behind the sticks is better than almost all the SL stadiums.Nice pub about 150 yards up from the ground and easy access to motorway network.

Yes and about 1000 huddersfield fans and about 1500 ish from Wigan plenty of room for a one off

I'd say give York a go, a great place to take the family or Mrs and make a whole weekend of the trip as well.

Toulouse and Bradford have had their time. Bradford were a success but obviously living well beyond their means.

If Toulouse had been given the three years exemption from relegation that Catalan were given to help them grow, who knows where they would be now?

I think it would do Salford as a club good to take a step back for a few years and rebuild so a lower league might do them good.

Huddersfield I would keep. They could be a really  good team with a bit more development. My one concern is what happens to them when Ken Davy, who is getting on a bit, is not longer with us? Will his family stay involved or will they pull the plug?

Proper rl ground is dewsbury. Makes me wonder though if dewsbury were good enough to get into sl would the ground be considered good enough. If the answer to that is no then Huddersfield shouldn’t be allowed to use it

sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward

Playing somewhere as a one off is different to a permanent ground surely. Though Dewsbury is better than some of the places Broncos have played in SL.

It was probably the most cost-effective option for them.

If Huddersfield were a bigger club, then maybe Rochdale or Oldham would have been good options.

Doesn't work like that, RL  make it up as they go along sometimes.

Have you seen the prices to stay in York on a Saturday? never mind the whole weekend.  Not against York going up.

(That was a joke!)

Wigan will fill it 😉

I don't really want them in SL - I like my Sunday games...although, would it be cheaper for a Sky TV Thursday night stay in our lovely city?

Considering how they are going and how many fans are watching them, they should probably just take it to Wigan for a pay day

I get that, but I would also apply it to any club that previously got promoted and ask the same question!

I think the ground would be ok in SL . It wouldn't get the full score of 1.5 points as there aren't enough seats , but it does meet the minimum capacity of 5k . I think if Dewsbury did ever reach SL , then they would probably develop the grass bank behind the sticks and perhaps increase their seating capacity . No need for it just yet though .
