Big appointment coming up for Catalan if true (which i'm sure it likely is) - certainly feels like they need a coach to have another Trent Robinson style impact to progress from where they are currently.

I'm really not sure about that one if true.

Always feels like McNamara has had a bit of an unfair bad rep follow him around and I'm not sure why. He did a good job with GB IMO, has experience working in the NRL and has turned Catalans from a bit of a basket case, in to a club that has won a couple of trophies and got to a couple of other finals and who in the main, have competed towards the top end of Superleague. 

I think he would do well at Leeds and would be a pretty wise appointment to try and continue the good work started by Brad Arthur.

He would be a better fit for the Giants in my opinion. He’s very good at putting structures in place and building up a club, looking at all aspects. However Leeds don’t need that. They need someone to take them to the next level.

McNamara might be able to do that but he doesn’t play an attractive brand of footy and combined with his former Bradford ties, I don’t think he’d be universally welcomed at the Rhinos

That's actually a good call, with Luke Robinson as his assistant (if Luke can stomach that)

I'd say Director of Rugby, but they've already got an excellent one in Andy Kelly.

I'd say it's the right time for both club and coach to move on. Its great what's he's done for the dragons from where they were to where they are. All coaches have a shelf life.

I honestly can't imagine watching a Leeds team coached by Mcnamara. I don't rate him that much as a coach, or the way he presents himself and don't particularly care for the way his teams play.

I quite liked him as England manager. I thought he did a decent job and found him far better than Bennett.

However I do agree with you in that I dont think I'd be overjoyed if he took over at Wire. And I agree on the point about how he presents himself. Although I find quite a few head coaches to be quite unlikeable really (in their public persona).

It’s more the way he presents himself that puts me off, I’ve never liked coaches who seemingly blame everyone else for losses and bad performances rather than looking inward.

Brad Arther is the opposite I remember him putting the blame squarely on himself for a few bad performances last year, it was refreshing to see.

I'd imagine Daryl Powell would be enough to scar a Wire fan for life, so I don't blame you!

In fairness, some of that is just the culture at Catalans I think.

I wouldn't be thrilled with him at Leeds, but then again who would I be thrilled with? He's got a solid record at least. 

I think we need someone more in the kick on again mould. BA has put us well on track, if he doesn't stay then the next coach needs to be able to build on those solid foundations.

I think Steve Mc has done great with Catalans, and he's someone I admire with his unafraid comments and positions.

Big job to replace him on their hands.

I'm not sure who's avaliable, but it would appeal to some coaches who are out of work, or who's contracts run out at the end of the season.
