The knights will have too much power in the forwards for fev , Knights by 10

Was wondering why we had a thread for the curtain raiser but not the top-of-the-bill event...

Should be a cracking game and hopefully an entertaining one too as these two teams have the best two half back pairings in the comp (Harris/Hingano and Hampshire/Reynolds, assuming Reynolds is fit after his injury at the weekend).

Kind of a shame it will be played in front of a pretty empty stadium after the CC final, but should be well worth watching.

A very intriguing final which on latest form is very difficult to predict. The potential to be the game of the day IMHO. Looking forward to a potential cracker. Good luck to both teams from this particular neutral.

Of course i want to win but i certainly wouldn't begrudge York winning.

I am really looking forward to it, as said above, it is a potentially cracking match up that could go either way. 7th appearance at Wembley for Rovers which would have been 8 if the 2022 final hadn't been moved to Tottenham, which itself was a fine occasion. Luckily I have seen them all except the 1952 final, only because I wasn't born then! Just a thought re the scheduling, what about an 11am ko for the Ladies, 1.30 for the 1895, and 4.15 for the main event.  Anyone agree?

Dout many will. The Stephen Mullaney school boys 'curtain raiser' would have to kick off even earlier.

Correct me if I am wrong, aren't they playing at 10am? If so, it could still be done.

Agree, that would be a lot better , the 5.45pm 1895 cup as it stands makes it very difficult for some fans who wish to use the train back.

The issue for us has been getting there and back on the same day as we have a commitment on the Sunday. We are booked on the last train back North to York on the Saturday which leaves Kings Cross at 2100.

Hopefully all games are great but could do without Golden Point Extra Time thanks...

Really looking forward to the day though and we will hopefully enjoy both two matches we are going to watch (CC and 1895) - the Ladies match as well would be too long for us to be trapped in the stadium.

Good luck to all teams playing on Saturday (just slightly less for Fev in this case, sorry Fev fans)

Quite a change from just a few weeks ago when (if I remember correctly) Featherstone didn't have any half backs available at all.

I agree regarding the order of the matches (if we have to have them all on one day).

But it wouldn't fit the RFL's strategy which seems to be to boost the crowd for the main event by getting fans of the women's finalists to stay after that match and fans of the 1895 finalists to arrive before theirs - I doubt there will be many staying for all three games.

Indeed. Reynolds was out for a couple of months and Lacans and Herring both released on compassionate grounds. we ended up filling in with Aekins and Addy at half back for a while...not only are neither of them hatural halves, but we badly missed their contributions in their normal positions.

Turner is a decent halfback but doesn't feature in the coaches plans

He's done ok when he's had the chance - he played very well when he came on against York for instance -  and he's been 18th man for the last five games so it's a bit of a stretch to say he doesn't feature in the coach's plans, but he's just nowhere near as good as Reynolds and Hampshire (neither were Lacans or Herring for that matter in my opinion).

This. To be honest, two games is a stretch. I'm going to the men's final and the 1895 and that will have me hanging around in the stadium for about 5 hours. No way would I want to be watching three games.

I normally arrive about half time for the ladies' game and then watch the men's final, but York are in the 1895 this time.

Could someone let the powers that be at Fev know, we haven't been the York 'City' Knights for nearly 3 years now?

I was confused by that post too - the photo is just a generic one from media day which both clubs have used.

I think that it say York city Knights on the shirt, so who is responsible for that who knows.

All Fev socials seem to just say York Knights.

I think it says "York RLFC Knights" on the jersey.
