What a mess rugby league is in, huddersfield playing at dewsbury (and soon to be halifax), halifax playing at bradford, …

its getting to be a bit of a (travelling) circus over the hills.

If Ken Davy has put up the bulk of money for the pitch then it should be in a time scale to suit the rugby team not a non league football club. Why they are are worrying about Halifax FC is beyond me.

Looks like Halifax fans are not happy with this situation,  therefore I expect many boycott the matches at Odsal.  It will be very sad if a crowd of less than 1000 turns up against Oldham.  Not sure how the sport will ever become recognised nationally if the RL let's this type of shambles constantly goes on in the sport.

We currently have the farce of Salford, followed by Huddersfield moving home because its incapable of increasing crowds at its present stadium.   Let's get back to basics, two up two down for all three divisions or increase SL by two teams and have just two divisions.  25% of SL money should be shared by second tier teams and less emphasis on Sky money keeping some clubs afloat in SL.  If some teams have to go part time, so what.

The sport is run like an amateur body.  There is no marketing for events, ie paid advertising etc  and that has been the case since RL was born.  When that boxing promoter wanted to take over a few years back,  he should have been given a five year contract.  How on earth could things have got any worse.

halifax town afc have played at the shay since 1921

They are having the same pitch installed as at Latics. The money has taken time, but it is absolutely necessary for both RL and football to take place at The Shay.

The pitch is a huge safety concern for the football side.

It was Halifax Town's ground, Fax rl bought in when they moved, Town went bust AFC are a new club so have no legitimate claim on the ground

halifax rlfc have never owned the shay.

the ground is owned by the calderdale metropolitan council.

and as approved a deal to sell it to huddersfield chairman ken davy.

the deal is a new pitch paid for by ken davy.

huddersfield will play on the shay until they find some land to build a new stadium in huddersfield to house huddersfield giants.

then the shay will be for the sole use of halifax rlfc and halifax afc.

Just been reading a few other clubs forum's and Facebook pages regarding Halifax having to move to Odsal for their next five games, some really quite amusing comments being made proper mocking Odsal so well worth a read. Made me think though what is my favourite & least favourite away ground to visit:-

Favourite - for me its always been Batley, yes i know the pitch has a slope on a par with climbing Ben Nevis but for me the stadium is really good and always has a good atmosphere. Yep nothing special and basic for this level of RL but does exactly what it says on the tin, always enjoyed visiting Batley and looking forward to going there later in the season.

Least Favourite - apart from Odsal which is just god awful for some reason I cannot stand Featherstone, just an odd looking stadium with all 4 sides different and disjointed plus the fact when I've been previous there was always someone banging a blooming drum non stop proper doing my head in. I remember a load of Oldham fans on a previous visit shouting over to this individual to "shut the bleep up" but to no avail. Plus the fact it always seems to rain when I've been there so not many happy memories.

Anyone else have any good / bad grounds they've been to?

Coldest was Carlisle when they played at the railway ground.

Never enjoyed Hull KR. Very hostile.

I share your thoughts about Batley but my favourite was the old York ground at Clarence Street/ Wigginton Road. A real picture postcard.

Worst…well it was always snowing when Hornets played at Watersheddings, even in August…..but I have to say Odsal…to paraphrase Mike Harding, if the world had piles it would be at Odsal.

Yes I have been to Huyton.. an absolute dump! I recall the local youths congregating on a roundabout and chucking stones at cars as they headed for the exits..

I did go to Huyton, on a coach and remember a group of small children standing  in the middle of a roundabout throwing stones at our coach!! It was rough and dire

Who, apart from me ever went to Hunslet's PARKSIDE ?
