York wasps....

[only 2 weeks away]

I noticed during the video of the singing in the changing room the second verse was when the wasps go buzzing in..... Also when Clint was being interviewed the other week ( think it was post wembley) he had a hat on with a wasp on the front. Any chance we are going back to our original moniker of the wasps?

York Wasps only existed for 6 years, average finishing position was 10th before going out of business. Even the name - wasps - isn’t ideal, a wasp is often labelled as a pest. It’s not exactly great from a marketing perspective (which IMO needs an overhaul).
 

Now, if the rumoured academy was to be called York Wasps that wouldn’t be too bad I guess.

Come on York have been pests lately ( ) but i think Knights is a far better fit.

That might be the case officially but York RLFC were known as The Wasps from before I started watching them over 50 years ago obviously due to the amber and black hooped playing jerseys they wore.

Don't think it will be a full name change (with the badge change a couple of years ago and the Valkyrie etc...)

But I think I know what our 'retro' shirt will be for retro round this year...... Maybe for 1 game we'll be listed as York Wasps or something like that.

The old Wasp logo , a fat Wasp that adorned the match day program is bottom left front of last seasons heritage shirt.
