Will there be any curtain raiser games at the three games ?

As an aside,  what would be the most 'doable' opportunity / options for the international game if there are curtain raisers ?

The Rugby League Fan's Mantra for helping the game grow internationally is ten two-letter words - IF IT IS TO BE, IT IS UP TO ME.

None are planned at the moment.

Though based on nothing but speculation I'd imagine England women vs Somebody (probably Wales) at Headingley isn't completely unlikely.

Probably England women against someone, but not Australia, Wales or France as too one sided. I can’t see any point having another men’s international played in England.

How about Yorkshire v Lancashire before the Wembley test with Alex Simmons doing a DJ set inbetween the two games - that would pack it out.

You're joking, aren't you?

I don’t think there should be any curtain raisers for the games but there should definitely be a lot of community club and school activities in the week leading up to the games and some kind of junior tournament on the morning of the games near to the stadium.

Curtain raisers are Mickey Mouse

I dunno. Having England v France as a curtain raiser for a Fev game in Toulouse last season seemed to go well.

I think this is a good shout - the matches themselves are big enough not to need a curtain raiser, but I think engaging the community and also having plenty of family activities around the stadium would be a real positive in terms of contributing to the "event".

I don't think we need lots of gimmicks though for this series (and IMO we should actively steer clear of anything close to being "gimmicky") - I think the series pretty much sells itself to anyone who'd be interested in attending.

I really don't think we need curtain-raisers, BUT.... if there was going to be a curtain-raiser, I'd like it to be the England Academy vs Aus schoolboys.  I usually watch them and they always seem to be closely-fought matches, but played in front of small crowds at small venues.  So what a treat it would be for the youngsters to play at these three venues and in front of big crowds!

I think another game is a non-starter, but how about, in the spirit of the old Skinner and Baddiel "Phoenix from the Flames" football re-enactments, having former players re-creating classic Ashes moments ?

I, for one, would upgrade my Wembley seat to see if Adrian Morley could still make it down the pitch in 12 seconds to decapitate Robbie Kearns.

Similarly, if we could get Shaun Edwards to attend, I have it on good authority that Bradley Clyde still has his original neck brace.

Stuart Peacock and Willie Mason to finish proceedings with a punch-up in the centre circle, whilst Henderson Gill has a bit of a boogie round a corner flag.

Sorted 😀

Phil "he's a stepper" Ford? Sadly, no Mike Gregory to run the length of the field. Suspect Paul Eastwood probably doesn't want to be reminded of the two missed kicks that might have won us the Ashes.

Speaking about Baddiel and Skinner, I'm always a bit gutted when a football major tournament comes around that we don't have a three lions alternative.

I wouldn't mind that... seeing as I missed it live due to traffic!
