tandle Posted August 19 Posted August 19 look at the state of super lleague, look at some of the scores for and against last few days then theres salford. there is only 6 teams that can call them selves fit for super league.
Stevos Barber Posted August 20 Posted August 20 https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/25402649.bradford-bulls-eye-super-league-noble-wood-exit-roles/ What a surprise with Sport England not being happy about Woods involvement in the Bulls, not to mention the unhappiness of fans from other clubs with Super League ambitions about the same thing, Bradford appear to have cleared the path 1

Oldham Valderama Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Not sure how this applies to Oldham but reading a lot about the financial struggles of Salford one area that keeps cropping up is the fact that because they no longer own the AJ Bell Stadium (or whatever its called these days) and have to effectively rent it for match days they say that they have been unable to generate any sort of income from things like food / drink / parking etc. Does anyone know how the situation between the rugby & football works at Oldham? I know we have a 10 year lease which we are a couple of years into and assume we also pay rent to use BP for games but do the rugby club get to keep a slice of any part of the game day revenue streams that they bring in ie food / drink / parking / hospitality and so on? Bar 1895 and the car parking on their own must generate a pretty penny on match days, it would be a bit unfair if the rugby didn't get a slice of the profits from these when they are the ones bringing in the punters? 1
LittleboroRoughyed Posted August 20 Posted August 20 From memory, I think Mike Ford in one of his early interviews said that the lease negotiated included share split on parking, food, bar etc & was additional income streams compared to Whitebank. 3

The rent is around £2K per game, which seems reasonable, depending on what it covers. I think we get a 60/40 split on all bar sales. 1

If true then fair play Mr Rothwell 4

If true then fair play Mr Rothwell I expect the rent is set in negotiation with both Latics and OMBC, who stumped up for the pitch on the basis it was used by both clubs. 2

Salford never owned their stadium. Other clubs renting their stadiums have similar issues, only differing according to their rental agreements. I can think of Sheffield, Leigh, Hunslet, Doncaster for starters Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

Yes he said it at one of the early forums.

Bedford Roughyed Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Being blunt, I don't think we are ready. However, with the championship proposals, we have to go for it (I'm presuming we are). Staying in the championship could set us back, and we have no idea when we might get the chance again. 2 With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
The Art of Hand and Foot Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Apparently 12 teams have put forward bids for SL, including us. But, and this is the bit I'm having a hard time processing, 3 of the teams are Huddersfield, Hull FC and Cas????? The idea being should they lose IMG points and be downgraded. One worry, apparently, is the state of their grounds!!

Is there a deadline? Is that including current SL teams?
Tim G Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Rugby league being run has it always has been, I see the possibility of the following. Salford leave SL for obvious reasons. York and Bradford nailed on for SL. And this is the curve ball, Widnes get promoted too. RL would then have five teams in close proximity, Wigan, Leigh, Warrington, ST Helen's and Widnes. No issues for bigger crowds in those local derbies because that's as far has the game has progressed in over 100 years. Nothing would surprise me 1

Nothing would surprise me I genuinely think we have a good chance of that last slot. Interesting comments from Jen Davy when he was pushed on Kyle Amors podcast. Oldham was his third choice. 1
