Positive RL stories

Understandably so there's lots of negativity around the sport at the moment so I thought id start a thread for good news stories.

I'll start it off with a story about a club that I myself have been critical of. I can only applaud this - well done guys, what a gesture

Started coaching an U13s team in south Wales this year. We’re through to then national semi finals on Sunday.

They’ve never really had ‘RL’ coaching before despite playing a couple of seasons as a keeping fit exercise post-RU season.

5 wins, 1 draw, 2 defeats.

20+ training each week.

Solid squad of 25-30 available each game.

My loose forward was part of a Champions Schools winning team this year also with Glantaf.

All very positive.

Workington Town’s charity day on Sunday raised £10,244 for Wasdale Mountain Rescue team, a brilliant effort by all concerned.

Anglian Vipers Ladies are travelling to play Hull KR Ladies 2nd team before their Ladies’ first team game against Fev on Sunday, on the proper Craven Park pitch, a proud moment for the club.

Its brilliant to see the progress the Vipers are making. Sounds like you are building real foundations for the future. While I think expansion in the professional game is done there's a lot of great community clubs across the whole of the south continuing to build and grow

After two decades of leading RL development trips to East Africa, York Valkyrie coach Lindsay Anfield must have been extremely proud to be able to sign her first Ugandan player, Peace Lekuru, to the reigning Women's Super League champions.

Peace made her Valkyrie debut on Sunday, in a 28-4 victory over Leigh Leopards.

9.06 pm on a Friday night and one of our lads emails me and asks ‘Are you sure we can’t train tomorrow?’

Doing 4 sessions over the course of the summer holidays with them in Burgess Park to keep them ticking over.

Some big numbers training at West Cumbrian amateur clubs at the moment, some clubs have reserected 2nd team fixtures. Theres loads of kids teams also, the game up here definitely feels on the verge of something very good.

In 2018, there were 0 participants in Rugby League in Goole. Now there's a professional team, an open age team and 5 or 6 junior teams

Further to this the Vipers team had a brilliant day out, despite the 7 hour drive, including a pre-match photo in front of the south stand with the Challenge Cup, and were really warmly welcomed in Hull. The next game (their first team v Fev in the Championship) looked like a really high standard, something to aspire to.

Thanks for all the "likes" , just a quick update. Peace scored a hat trick in her 2nd game for the Valkyrie against Barrow yesterday . She won't stay on the wing for long - she's either a strong pacey centre (good footwork) or perhaps even an edge forward,
