After 2/3rds of the season who do people believe has been the breakout player of the season

Harry Robertson at Saints for me has looked to be growing every game in Super League, mentions to Whitby, Stephens, Delaney and Dagnall at Saints too, but for me Robertson is the pick of their bunch- a bright future for Saints in what may be considered a transitional season

Lewis Martin at Hull has all the makings of a future international player, he’s fast, strong and returns the ball well

Oli Pratt for me has looked very well the few times I have seen him play, he’s been extremely strong and quick

Riley Lumb at Leeds is an excellent finisher for me, quick and manages the touch line really well,

Wigan have Farrimond coming through, but the squad seems tough to break into for youngsters at the moment, Nsemba has cement himself as a star of the game

a little bit older but Corey Hall and Jack Broadbent have done massively well this season having both moved clubs a couple of times in the last few years

For me there’s been some good young players who have had a good season so far.

To add to the ones mentioned I’d say Flanagan at Huddersfield has been good in a struggling team, Eseh at Hull, Harvey Smith at Wakefield and Hodgson at Leigh

If we're going by this year alone then i'd say George Flanagan, George Whitby or Bailey Hodgson, the others are pretty much in their 2nd year and in my opinion can't be counted as a breakout player of THIS year.

On the others i've been highly impressed with Lewis Martin everytime i see him, he plays like a seasoned pro, Harvey Smith is another who always impresses me when he's on.

I’d add Dagnall to the three you mentioned. He looks like he could be a real star

I'll wait till he's played a bit more before passing judgement, not seen enough of him yet, i'm not going to suggest he could be a real star on the back of 4 or 5 games.

Bailey Hodgson certainly looks great. Was very impressed with him against Hull KR last week. Always been a great talent but has struggled heaps with injuries, so good to see him fulfilling his potential. Tough decision between him and Armstrong for next season, perhaps one of them moves to 6.

Harry Robertson of course, been amazing this season. A special talent, one of the best youngsters in the world.

Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet I thought has been one of Catalans best this season. He has a great skill set, will be a superstar one day.

George Flanagan and Riley Lumb have had great first years. Caius Faatili too.

Others to mention are Whitby, Eseh, Pratt and H Smith.

In the NRL, Saveio Tamale, winger for the Raiders. Isiah Iongi, Parramatta Fullback. Robert Toia, Leka Halasima, Owen Pattie.

And Mark Nawaqanitawase if you count him.

Riley Lumb and Bailey Hodgson are probably the pick of the bunch for me.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

Tamale is phenomenal, probably in the top 3 wingers in the game already and he’s only just broken through

I mean, he's no Lewis Dodd. :kolobok_wink:

For my team the two young wingers (Martin and Barron) have been excellent, and both have all the tools to play for England in a few years time. Davy Litten has also been really impressive. He was a full back throughout his youth career and is still relatively new to the centre position but he's made it his own. Whether he can quite make the step up to international standard is another question, but he's improving all the time.

Sam Eseh could also be a top prop forward. Big and imposing and very physical. Watching Wigan's forwards today I reckon they have made a real mistake letting him go on loan for the season. He gets in that team easily. I just hope we can manage to get him permanently, even if it does mean paying a fee.

Elsewhere, I really like Robertson. Ollie Pratt has really impressed me every time I've seen him. I hope that Huddersfield can put a bit more quality around around Flanagan. I'd like to see what he can do in a better team because he looks to have all the tools.

Agree with all of the above but would also add Cozza to the list.

Yeah for sure, looked really impressive. Great ball player, very classy player.

Considering your post it seems that only three quarters are applicable to be breakout players?

He has put Delaney and Stephens in there too. The only other forward I can think of that has had a breakthrough year is Eseh. I’m happy to be corrected but just can’t think of any others at the moment

What Trinity have done is unearthed some class forwards. Caius Faatili is a great young prop, can’t think of any young prop doing the damage he’s doing especially in his first SL season and he will only get better. Caleb Uele is also very hard for opposition teams to handle in his first SL season and has his best years to come.

Harvey Smith for a young 9 has been incredible but he was always the best 9 in the comp through youth systems so he’s expected to be the real deal.

Pratt similar to Smith but he plays like he’s got a senior head on his shoulders. He doesn’t make a single error and defensively and in attack he’s very effective.

For other teams I like the look of Robertson. He looks a class centre. I like George Whitby too as a half.

Bailey Hodgson has looked good. Not seen Dagnall yet.

Flannagan I know some rate but I think he’s got some issues to iron out in defence and he makes some clangers at the back that have cost Hudds. I’m not fully convinced on him yet but I’ve only seen him a handful of times.

Fa’atili is special, people forget it’s only his first season in the top grade. Was a great QLD cup player but wouldn’t have expected him to translate his form over so well.

I think he’s become a serious contender for a Kiwis jumper at the end of the year.

He’s playing well but no where close to a nz player. First they wouldn’t pic a sl player. Second you have

Jfh, Tapaine, Leota, nas, whyte and griffin plus the likes of Wilson at the broncos

I disagree that they wouldn't pick a SL player. The SL player in question would have to be very good, but they aren't arrogant about it the same way the Aussies are. Plenty of SL based players have been selected for NZ in the SL era.

Not that I think Fa'atili is international standard. Not yet. A great prospect and he's going really well this year, but talk of a Kiwis jumper is hyperbolic to say the least.

There more likely to then aus but they do place sl as a reserve comp so players over here especially props will be far down the list
