Wandering pete Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 Oldham currently in 4 th spot with 11 wins/2draws/6 losses...this will be their 4th clash with the Raiders this season and the 3rd at Boundary Park. Barrow inflicted their first league defeat of the season (6-20)...the other 5 losses being to the 3 teams above them in the table..York/ TO/Bradford. Recent form has seen 4 successive home wins but only 1 away win in the last 4.The recent signing of Brierley and Ormondroyd from Salford will bolster their already strong squad whilst the Raiders will be weakened by further injuries and ludicrous suspensions.Let's hope the outstanding achievement of 350 games under Cresta's direction can inspire the team.
2Cents Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Astonishing number of our best players injured or suspended: (at least 10) Ramon Silva. Tee Ritson. Tom Walker. Curtis Teare. Josh Wood. Ryan Brown - not named in the 21. What happened to Kevan Rothwell? Named in the 21 but injured are Ryan King (broken hand) Matt Costello (broken wrist), Brad Walker (pulled calf) and Ryan Johnston (operation). So that leaves just 17 fit bodies which includes Brett Carter, Finn Dutton, Seth Woodend and Dan Knott - think 1st game of the season for most of them. Talk about bare bones - who's going to play where? Hardly any forwards. Geez.... Hope we can give Oldham a decent game.

HP Beans Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Tough assignment but sure lads will give their best shot. Up the Raiders
RSN Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 We just need to get through this with no injuries and win our last 4 games.
Anita Bath Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Congats to coach Crarey on his record setting 350th game at the helm and to Barrow for sticking by the coach in the long term. Long may he continue. 3

jroyales Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Safe journey down to those who are making the trip and a miserable one back.
2Cents Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 (edited) With today's loss, to be 5th or 6th, we'll have to win all 4 remaining games (which we can) including Doncaster away, to reach 25 points and other results will have to favour us. London would have to win all 4 of their 5 remaining games and we'd have to lose all our games, to put us in the bottom 4. Very long odds on that happening. Edited August 10, 2025 by 2Cents
m brooksy Posted August 10, 2025 Posted August 10, 2025 Thought you guys were great and really played with some great tactics attacking us from deep and scored some really quality tries. 4

LittleboroRoughyed Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 All teams have their injury problems, Oldham had 8 missing yesterday from their probable strongest 17 however, yes, we do have a strong squad. Barrow were excellent yesterday attacking from deep down your left edge exposing our right side defensive weaknesses - that’s what you get with a brilliant coach who got a rousing reception from the Oldham fans. Good luck for the remainder of the season & we may see you again in the playoffs. 4

Hopefully we won't see you in the play offs as we will be the away side and 3 trips to boundary park in a season is enough 4 will be taking it too far. Joking aside If Barrow beat Doncaster and Halifax, Oldham will probably decide if we make the play offs as you play Doncaster and Fev. If you beat both of them Doncaster play Fax and Featherstone play Doncaster hence if we win our 2 remaining games we can't mathematically not be ahead of 2 of Fev, Fax and Doncaster. Lots of if buts and maybes but we just need to win 4 games. But if we do seeing as allowed you to progress in 2 cups Oldham should be doing Barrow a favour. Edited August 11, 2025 by RSN 1

You don’t half talk some rubbish claiming king, Costello, stack, walker and Johnston injured yet they all played leave the team selection to Paul

His pre-match Oldham interview: I quote "Ryan King broke his hand". "Matt Costello, suspected wrist, went to hospital". "Bradley Walker pulled his calf". "Other players who didn't play last week, ie: Dutton-Rosconie. Knott. Woodend, will get an opportunity". His pre-match London interview: "We've lost Ryan Johnson for the season. We need to get him in now for an operation so he'll miss the rest of this season and be ready for next season". Jared Stack had been injured and was not named in the 21. As they say 'don't shoot the messenger' as I merely passed what Cresta said publicly. If someone was speaking rubbish, it certainly wasn't me.

If someone was speaking rubbish, it certainly wasn't me. I'm all for openness, but sometimes Cresta gives away too much information in these pre-match interviews. I'm not into the idea of telling the opposition which of our 17 are 'walking wounded'. Same thing happened in the Marquee before the Featherstone game. The Featherstone board are sat there and Cresta gets cornered into announcing that Broady will be playing with a dislocated finger because he can't get fixed til Tuesday. I know it was meant with the best intention, to show how brave players are, putting their bodies on the line for the club and all that, but why give the opposition this information right before a game?
2Cents Posted August 12, 2025 Posted August 12, 2025 Att. ROD77. Assume Paddy McAteer is rubbish too. Here is his article in the E. Mail. Aug 9. Out of action are Joe Bullock, recalled by parent club Salford Red Devils, Ryan Brown Tom Walker, Alex Bishop, Kavan Rothwell and Ryan Johnston all injured, while Curtis Teare (three games) and Josh Wood (Two games) are suspended after incidents during the last home game with Toulouse plus skipper Jarrad Stack is still not available. Drafted in for his first selection of the season is Brett Carter along with Delaine Gittens-Bedward, Aaron Smith and youngsters Dan Knott and Seth Woodend. I suggest you watch Cresta's per-match Widnes Interview on Friday before you unfairly call someone out again.
