The Super XIII final will be played in Paris

The Super XIII final will be played at the Jean Bouin stadium in Paris on June 6, 2026, before the match between the Catalan Dragons and Wigan.

Here is news that will delight thirteen fans... or not. While the Catalan Dragons will play against Wigan on June 6 in Paris, the Super XIII final is also relocated. It will also be played at the Jean Bouin stadium before the Super League match between the Sang et Or and the Warriors.

Initially, the eleven clubs of Super XIII had refused this summer, the idea of doing this final in Paris. Before finally turning around, insisting that it was necessary to take advantage of the English presence and the Super League match to show what the rugby championship in France is also. For everything that is about finances, the Dragons show a class gesture by taking care of the entire rental of the stadium (€250,000), the reservation for the two Super XIII clubs that will be in the final (60 people) but also, the two nights in full board (€24,000). And finally, the Catalans make 200 seats available for sale for the 11 Super League clubs.

June 6, 2026 will be an important date for rugby XIII in France. A Super League match is a great ad for our sport and the championship final can only take advantage of it. For the Super XIII, a final in Paris will necessarily be more expensive than in Narbonne, there is no subject on it. But this event in Paris will certainly make you dream more than yet another final in Occitania. And even the faithful thirteenths of the south may be more inclined to move especially for those whose clubs do not appear on the poster. To your diaries on June 6th.

Great to see a Final in the Capital. Hopefully it will sell out or be close.

Class from Catalan to cover the costs. Seems they are getting used to this financing other teams expenses of an away trip.

If the final is in June, can someone remind me what the argument against aligning the comp with the UK summer season is?

The French played their final in Paris around 2000 for two or three seasons. Infact Paul Sironen played for Villeneuve in one of these games finishing a winner.

Playing one game at the beginning of summer, is hardly proof that they play 'all summer'.

I suppose the main argument is the heat.  And the fact that supporters and players alike are less interested during the summer months.

A hypothetical for you:  If NRL was the 3rd strongest comp in the world, and UK and France (1st and 2nd) played over European winter, do you think the NRL would shift their season to align with northern hemisphere?

PS:  Fantastic news about the Grand Final in Paris, and a huge bravo to Catalans for covering the costs!

On a side note it just really shows how inept the Super League is when a club needs and can pay for Stadiums and other teams to play in France. Hopefully St Esteve wins the Super XIII for the owner.

I am not necessarily advocating that the French leagues move to summer simply because the NH or Pacific top divisions do.

In saying that, I think there is benefit to moving to summer, similarly the way that British RL has completely moved their game to the sunnier months.

It’s hard to justify a theory that supporters and players are less interested in Summer when the biggest club in France get fantastic crowds when playing in the Summer.

A move will give the French game some clear airtime outside of the Soccer and Union seasons. The playing and spectating conditions will be markedly improved. The French leagues could seamlessly tie in with a true European pyramid.

I can only envisage the ones against a move to summer are the same types which were against the British game moving to the summer. I would say the British game is better off for the change and I expect the French game would be too.

There are some arguments both for and against the change. I suppose for Catalans it is fine, but asking/forcing amateurs and semi-pros to follow suit is a whole different matter.

The reason I gave you the NRL hypothetical, because it would be a similar thing. The summer months are when the Aus public are more focused on cricket and going to the beach. Similar to how I imagine southern France in summer, minus the cricket.

Not really getting your point here at all. Who do you expect to pay for hiring a stadium for a club's home game? What has superleague got to do with the staging of the French league final?

Normally the FFR would hire a stadium (in Narbonne) and as it's close to the competing clubs, there would be no need for hotels etc. Playing the final in Paris means a journey of at least 8 hours in each direction, so it's going to mean a couple of nights in a hotel. It just wouldn't make sense for those clubs to do it unless someone else was paying. Hopefully Catalans' outlay will get a return by more fans traveling from the south to watch the final.

Quite tempted to go over and see it myself, which I wouldn't have done if it was just the Catalans v Wigan match.

Seems like the FFR hasn't actually agreed for this to happen yet, and only some of the super XIII clubs are in favour. There's some suggestion that each club will be required to sell a couple of hundred tickets for the final.

Hopefully they can all get behind it. And surely a few hundred fans at least would travel up there for the occasion.
