This needs bookmarking after the “new people” have so far

  • Upset the main source of funding for SL ie Sky
  • Upset one of the main funding sources for the game ie Sports England
  • Have failed to complete the promised review within the stated timescale
  • Have restructured SL on a wing and a prayer.
  • Have not solved the Salford situation despite stating that as one of the main reasons for the changing of the guard
  • Have got down the road of appointing jobs for the boys
  • Have claimed that a streaming service will bring in multi millions per year based on some financial calculations that Paul King would be embarrassed about.
  • Have one of the leading lights of the new regime be charged by the RFL due to his behaviour on the field after a match

I’m sure there are more out there but they have only taken the game backwards in the last 6 months

I'm sure that it has been repeated so many times before from the very same people, I can't be bothered reading it.

Just so long as you're okay with the same level of respect back.

Because I knew it would fail, not long to go now.

You can't see the hypocrisy either, eh?

But just think how much better it would all be if we hadn't gone outside our usual internal merry-go-round and just appointed a proper rugby league man with rugby league manliness to sort it all out instead.

Abi Ekoku on the "independent panel" shows how much they care about optics.

Abi Ekoku is a Business Development & Strategy Consultant with significant experience in leading professional service teams and managing multi stakeholder groups - from Design & Planning, through Construction and across Marketing, Sales and Client Relations.

He would have been perfect for employment with IMG don't you think?

Lets ignore his experience because he was last at Bulls 22 years ago?

Abi brings a wealth of sports specific and wider cultural sector industry advisory experience; with engagements ranging from Race Equality, Safeguarding and Anti-Doping; to Major Event Management, Digital Strategy and Facility Development.

You can't post that, Harry says the increase would have been bigger if P&R was involved also.

Nigel Wood being RFL chairman is terrible optics.

Abi Ekoku playing two seasons for us and London prior to that nearly THIRTY years ago is stretching the conspiracy.

He was also your chief executive from 2000 - 03, and has held positions in the RFL previously.

Downplaying him to just a player seems harsh.

It shouldn't really be difficult to find people for the panel who haven't played for, or held a senior position at, clubs likely to be fighting for the remaining places.

Exactly, the point isnt about conspiracy theories but how it is perceived.

Theyre opening themselves up to these ‘theories’.

Because of Wood's involvement everyone is primed to look for pro-Bradford conspiracies. It needs to be clear that anyone with a perceived conflict of interest will not be involved in these decisions. At present, that isn't the case and it just looks bad. Hence what people have been saying about good governance and perceptions.

I'll go further. It doesn't look bad, it is bad. It isn't a perceived conflict of interest, it's a conflict of interest.

It isn't independent, it is the same people who've done it all before and who know each other and have done for years.

I don't care how popular Wood is among his chums or how Lord Caine would chortle if he hears someone say that maybe he's too much on the inside to be an external view.

It looks dodgy because it is dodgy.

Interesting quote from Lord Caine

“I am honoured to have been asked to chair the panel to determine whether the Betfred Super League expands from 12 to 14 in 2026 and, if so, which clubs will take up the 13th and 14th positions in the competition.”

Imagine if Bradford came 12th on the IMG ladder and the ‘independent’ panel decided no other teams were ready so went with 12 🙂

And now we should be annoyed at the Directors who feel that this whole thing stinks and are going through proper channels to raise concerns.

That is exactly what the rumours are saying, and we all know how uncannily accurate they often are.

If Bradford are 12th we have a 12 team SL. If they are 13th or 14th we go to 14. It stinks.
