It occurred to me that the 3 Ashes tests this year are all being played in cities that begin with the letter L.

Just for a bit of fun, let's say future Ashes series have to be played in 3 places that also all start with the same letter. So, pick a letter and 3 stadiums in 3 places that all start with that letter!

Let's see if we can get every letter of the alphabet! 😂

An England game in Cardiff? would that go down well with the locals?

Well, I'd have it as GB for the Ashes.

Ideally, I'd like to see tests played at grade-A places! 😜

Altrincham - Moss Lane (7,873)

Aldershot - Recreation Ground (7,100)

Accrington - Crown Ground (5,450)

That would be such an intimate and intimidating atmosphere for the Aussies. Might have trouble selling out Aldershot but should be just about okay with the other two!

We could have it as Rest of the World and play in Chicago but that's not what the OP said.

TBF Goose doesn't mention England in his OP. He mentions the Ashes.

Fair point, though as the Ashes is currently Eng v Aus i presumed that's what he was alluding to.

I just thought England v Aus would be presumed.

Let's see, where would the D series be?

Darlington - Darlington Arena (25,500)

Doncaster - Eco-Power Stadium (15,231)

Derby - Pride Park (33,597)

In fact those grounds would be the sort of size we'd have used for series about 20 or so years ago. Still do play in grounds that sort of size against smaller nations. There we go then, we've got our grounds for the next Pacific Island tour!

To think Leigh missed out on hosting a test in the year of L.

We would never have sold it out, mate. Never filled it for any international and only got 5-6k for the last world cup games there.

Sydney, Brisbane & Canberra, not beginning with the same letter, but what an holiday, must say it really disappointed me when it was switched from Aus this year, RL and Cricket Ashes back to back, Mrs Stottle and I were ready for the off, then it changed to Leeds, Liverpool and t'other place I don't really want to go any where near, again.

What a pull it was, Wolfhounds v Cedars that game along with another 12 in a 10 mile radius, pathetic planning must have been thought up in the Far East of RL land.

Do you live in Leigh Harry?

Certainly do Dunny, I know where you are going but we all have our preferences, I'll say no more.

That's the thing though, I don't have any inclination to criticise the town in which you live.

I don't understand why you feel so comfortable criticising the place where you know your fellow posters live. It just feels unnecessary.

Don't derail the thread, Harry. It's just a bit of fun. *said in a condescending tone and pats Harry on the head like a naughty dog* 😊
