Never mentioned the breakdown in society in any of my posts.Or anything about getting like soccer.I don't know where you have got that from. She was wrong i was wrong but it is difficult to suppress ones feelings  when you know you are right and the ref sees it differently.Of course he is right because he is in charge of the game.No need to preach about refs getting stick. It should not happen. My grandson packed up refereeing because of the pressure from the touchline.

Sorry to hear that. We don't do anything like enough to protect our refs.

It must be great being someone like you.

You can lament the great breakdown in society and the lack of respect players have for the ref these days and how it's all getting like soccer.

But someone does disrespect the ref and it's just heat of the moment bantz and we should all lighten up.

I think that's a slightly unfair reaction to someone expressing a view. There's no condoning what the player said, but it'd be a better outcome for the women's game if she learned it was unacceptable rather than punishing her into oblivion.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

I have been there got the T shirt and i was stupid.Fined £10 and a 1 game suspension but it was over 50 years ago .Give her a break any player repeating it in future will get at least 12 matches.

Exactly what you can't do. If you give this player a 1 match ban, then that's the standard.

Stupid comment to make, deserved to be sent off and hopefully gets a long ban.

"learned it was unacceptable"?

She's an adult. Unless she's unbelievably thick, then she would know it's unacceptable.

Initially agreed with the post above that said 8 matches would be the right ban.  Then I had a look and saw that it's a 14-round season.  So for me, maybe 6-7 is the right amount.

Now do the same but for a male player asking a female ref who she’s shagging.

Still okay to, as a grown adult and team captain, to learn it’s unacceptable?

I don’t think a “ban till the end of the season” would be particularly draconian.

It was funny, and I doubt the referee will take it personally (I'm sure he's heard much worse). But all the same it's pretty poor from her and she definitely should get at least a few matches for it. ATEOD, despite framing it in a more humorous way, she is essentially saying the ref is bent, and a player who said that would rightly get the book thrown at them. In the men's game I would expect a significant ban. It shouldn't be different just because it's a female player and a male ref.

It just strikes me as 'if we ban as hard as possible, nobody will do it again'. Which, in rugby as in criminal justice, rarely works. Of course it's a shocking thing for her to have said and, yes, shows she is as thick as pig dung.

They've only got two fixtures plus playoffs left so you're suggesting the same punshment as Sentoffagain.

Questioning a ref’s integrity- which this will probably be categorised as used to warrant an 8 match ban in the amateur game.  Considering how much bans are downgraded now I expect a 4-5 game ban

Chances are she had been chirping at him all day and he had enough. By doing what he did, Ollie made sure the RFL really have no choice but to back him. Worth mentioning that he is one of the best young refs around the game at the moment so the RFL will do well to back him by giving out a lengthy ban.

Even if it was her only comment of the day I think the ref was more than justified in sending her off.

Goes without saying that it was a comment that shouldn't have been said ..

But I'm fairly sure that I've heard / lip read  far worse in Mens Super League ..the faux outrage is as much that it wasn't a ' ladylike ' thing to say ..🙄

I think it should be a hefty ban.

Let's be honest, every single one of us probably found it funny when we first saw it, which is why it needs a hefty ban.

The comment is the toxicity women at all sporting levels have all the time, including her, and she's just inexplicably contributed to it.  Imagine Saints players who've got a superb win, and all they're probably seeing now is this, and you can imagine the comments that go with the article.

Its hardly faux outrage. I personally found it funny but at the same time its all about respect for the games officials and it should be punished along the lines of similiar offences. I have not heard anyone say anything about it not being ladylike or that being the issue.

Only from people who have no interest in the women's game at all.

I don't think this is something to laugh at, whether it's kids, mens or womens game we need to stamp out this kind of stuff to match officials, she's a prominent figure in the womens game, she should know better.

She should be handed a hefty ban as a deterrent to others, match officials should not be disrespected at any level.

The two things aren't mutually exclusive. It's more than possible to find it funny and think that there should be a strong punishment as a deterrent.

Indeed, but starting the topic off with laughing faces indicates they think it's something that is acceptable because it's funny.

It might be amusing but what she said is extremely disrespectful and offensive. Id expect a hefty ban if the same was said by a male player to a female official.

Should she get a ban for questioning the integrity of a match official? Yes.

Was it funny? Yes.

Funny unless you are the official its directed at. Would you be happy if someone said that to you in your workplace?
