I do often wonder if the clubs should create a joint initiative in terms of advertising across the city involving both clubs. We all know you're either one or the other and everyone pretty much already had drawn their lines somewhere, it's just getting them re-engaged or taking that first step.

Would love to see advertising boards with both clubs on advertising rugby league in the city and challenging Hull City a bit more in this area.

Personally I think the competitive intensity of clubs fighting each other for awareness and custom is more likely to create more impact, but then I'm a rabid capitalist! 🤣

Whilst I agree in principle, I don't think we're exactly fighting each other for each other's fans. There's very little crossover.

I see it more as the sport fighting for fans of other sports (mainly football).

Yes I mean the same thing. What we're trying to do is get people actively interested in rugby league who may only have been passively interested before, or not interested at all. I just think the nature of incentives means that if both clubs are trying to do that to everybody as soon as they can (thinking rightly that it's a zero sum game, once a new customer has been acquired by one team, they can never be a fan of the other), then the sport is more likely to convert more people more quickly. Two organisations in a race, albeit less coordinated, are likely to get to people more quickly then two organisations walkiing nicely alongside each other.

But I understand your point, and reckon the best strategy is a mix of the two, there's definitely some things where we could collaborate to do better.

I'd love Hull and Rovers to work together to spread the sport in the surrounding areas in terms of youth players. That in turn filters through to larger crowds over the years, if done correctly.
